Can't delete ghost / unavailable devices

I've seen people asking how to delete ghost devices etc from Google home for the last 5 years, and STILL there is no answer on how to do it.

Every time I say "sync my devices" it says syncing devices from 5 providers (I only have 4, one was deleted but it still tries even though it's not even listed)

Then it tells me there are 5 unknown devices, you might want to try setting them up again.

Firstly, doesn't even tell me WHAT THEY ARE

At least if you know there is a device, tell us what it is FFS.

I have noticed there is a pixel 3 on the list...  That died over 3 or 4 years ago.  It's deleted everywhere in my google account. Does not show up in my devices linked to my account...  I assume that's one of the mystery devices...

How do you:

1) list ghost devices / providers

2) delete ghost devices / providers

And don't say delete your home and set it up again..  That's bloody ridiculous if you have hundreds of devices.

It's the equivalent of saying to someone "to delete a photo off your phone, simply buy a new phone and then reinstall all your apps on it, and transfer all your photos except the one you want to delete up to the the cloud and then back to the new phone.  Oh the photos is already in the cloud?  Then you have to create a new google account and re purchase every Google device and go back in time and retake all the photos you want with your new device, retype every email in by hand.... "
