I have figured it out.

I was trying to "connect" Google Assistant to IFTTT so that I could create a new Applet in IFTTT based on "Google Assistant v2". Instead, I created the applet first in IFTTT, THEN I linked Google Assistant to IFTTT. It then found "devices" to attach to my Assistant.

All is working now, with just the added annoyance of adding the "activate" keyword to my action and no longer getting a verbal response (using the previous method, my Assistant would respond with "OK, 'doing this'").

I hope this can help @robertowh resolve his issues.

Cheers!

Hi @robertowh

Unfortunately, there are changes to the IFTTT platform and how it works with Google devices and Assistant.

See this article: Create commands to control online services & devices - Computer - Google Assistant Help

That is the only info I have available to me about the IFTTT depreciation.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting.

@JillG, thanks for your help.

@robertowh, changes are coming to how Google Assistant works with IFTTT — while these services will move to a different platform, you can still reconnect IFTTT to your Google Home App and rebuild or re-add your Applets. Here's how: https://goo.gle/3Sql4zd . Let us know if you have additional questions by responding to this thread.

Hi Jill and Princess and thank you for your help!

Right now I do not need to create new applets, I would like only to reconnect IFTTT to my Google Home app but it is not possible, but if I understood correctly it should be possible, right?

Here below I attach the steps I follow, please let me know if you have any advice!

Thank you very much

Hi robertowh,

It's possible if the IFTTT service is available, however with these changes, there could be issues on linking it.

I tried to open the links you sent but it was unavailable.

Hi robertowh,

I appreciate the additional info you've sent. Have you tried to remove IFTTT from your account? Let's go ahead and try it first and then link it back. Let's see if this would fix this. You can remove it on this link: https://goo.gle/3qmKl0u making sure that your account is logged in.

Keep me posted.

Princess

Hi robertowh,

Yes, that's right. Also, you can link it using the Google Assistant app from your phone. That would be the same thing.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi robertowh,

Thanks for trying. How about when using the Google Assistant app? Do you also get the same message?

By the way, the link you sent shows that the folder is empty.

Princess

Hi Princesss and thank you for your reply.

-Sorry, the link expired, I updated it, now it should work

-Please tell me how should I try to link and test  IFTTT through Google Assistant and I will try.

Thank you

Best regards

Hi everyone,

Thanks for responding.

@Dhomas, @robertowh, have you all tried using a different phone? Also, to access Google Assistant app you can follow these steps:

  • Open the Google app, which is the rainbow "G" icon in your app drawer.
  • Tap the More option at the bottom-right corner.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Google Assistant.
  • If the Assistant is not enabled, tap TURN ON at the bottom-right corner.

As soon as you see the settings icon, you can try linking IFTTT to see if it works.

Best,
Princess

I have tried to follow the steps posted. My Google Assistant was already on in the Google App. I also tried from a different phone. I tried logging into IFTTT with my IFTTT credentials as well as by using my Google account to log into IFTTT. I still get the same error.

I'm also having this problem. It's driving me crazy. I don't understand why Google had to make this change in the first place, but to break it altogether for me is infuriating.

So, I had an IFTTT applet that would trigger a webhook when I would say "Hey Google, 'do this'". I understand I know have to change it to "Hey Google, Activate 'do this'". But I can't even get the first step done to connect Google Assistant to IFTTT. I get the same error message as @robertowh : "no devices were found in your ifttt account you may need to setup these devices ifttt first. if you already set up devices, they may not be available due to temporary error. please wait a few minutes and try again"

It is not a temporary issue as I've been having this problem since the cutover on August 31st.

If it helps, I'm using a Google Workspace account.
