I have multiple homes set up in my Google Home app, and would like to delete the ones that are no longer used.
The structures are completely empty, and nobody else has access to them.
I know that if I do not include this, I will get this reply telling me what to do:
" When you’re going to delete a duplicate home structure in your Nest account. Use the Google Home app.
Here’s how:
Before you proceed, make sure that the home structure you're going to delete is empty, otherwise, you would end up deleting your active home with your Nest and Google Home devices."
This is exactly the procedure I am following, and have tried it on multiple Android devices and using various forms of network connection, including on a freshly reset phone.
The error message I always get is:
"There was a problem communicating with Google. Please wait a few moments, then try again."
I have been trying this many times over the last few months, but it never works. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hey Richard12,
We're sorry for the trouble this may have caused you — let's see what's going on.
If you're using an Android phone, try clearing the cache and data of your Google Home app then, reinstall it. Checking for Google Play Services updates might help too.
Let us know if it works.
Thanks,
Alex

I have done this, and it makes no difference on any of my devices.

Hey there,
Thanks for trying. What's the version of your Google Home app? Also, what phones have you used? Do you have another email signed in to your Google Home app? If so, try choosing a different email and see if that works.
Best,
Alex

Hello Richard12,
It's me again. Did choosing a different email work? Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Alex

The only other gmail account I have is a work account and it does not seem to be possible to log in to the Google Home app with a Workspace account.
I may try setting up a new account to see if that works .

Hi there,
We appreciate your patience. If you'll get the same result, please provide the version of your Google Home app and the make and model of the phone you're using.
Keep us posted.
Thanks,
Alex

I set up a new Google account on my phone. That account could easily create and delete structures.
I invited the new account to one of my structures. I then left the structure with the original account. The new account could then delete the structure.
BUT... I then invited the new account to another of the structures. I logged into the Nest App with the new account and added the home to the Nest app as well. Having done that, neither of the accounts can now leave or delete the structure!
Now I have two broken accounts.

Hey Richard12,
To make sure, is it happening on both Google Home and Nest app? Are you using an Android or iOS device? Have you tried using a different phone?
Best,
Alex

Neither account can leave, delete, or remove the other account from the home structure in the Google Home app on multiple Android devices.
My original account cannot add the home to the Nest App even though it was the account that created the structure in the Home app.
My new account has added the home to the Nest app and is shown as the owner of the home on that app. The other account does not show as family for that home in the Nest App.

Hello there,
To confirm, do you have a restriction on your Google Account? Also, could you provide us the version of your Nest app and Google Home app?
Regards,
Alex

As far as I know, I don't have a restriction on my Google account. I'm not quite sure what you even mean by that - do you mean something like parental controls?
Home App version 2.58.1.7
Nest App version 5.69.1.3

Hi Richard12,
Thanks for that information. Restriction on your account is like an additional protection. We'd like to check this out further, could you fill out this form and let us know once you're done.
Best,
Alex

I've filled out the form.
I have been using this Google account since Gmail was in beta. It was originally created as a googlemail.com account rather than a gmail.com account, but I always log in now using a gmail.com suffix. I wonder if that might have anything to do with it.
