Cannot re-enable Google Keep as Notes & Lists provider in Google Home app

I inadvertently disabled Google Keep as the Notes & Lists provider in Google Home app and want to re-enable it. But there is now no option appearing in the select notes and lists provider screen in the Google Home app which used to show Google Keep as the only option. Now even that option has disappeared from the Notes & Lists provider screen. It only shows "Disable Notes & Lists" with the button selected, and no other button available to choose Google Keep again.

I have cleared the app cache, reinstalled Google Home, and created a new home, but none of those actions have fixed the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi dgoodmn,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing while you are trying to enable Google Keep as a Note & List provider in the Google Home app. I appreciate the information provided and the steps that you already tried to solve the situation. I understand how difficult it can be when things don't work as expected. But don't worry; help is here.

Here are some steps that you can try:

Check Google Account Linking.

Ensure that the Google Keep account is properly linked to the Google Home app. Sometimes, integration issues can arise if the accounts aren’t fully linked.

  • Link Google Keep to Google Assistant:

    • Open the Google Home app.

    • Go to Account (profile picture in the top right corner).

    • Tap Assistant settings.

    • Under Services, check if Notes and Lists are linked to Google Keep.

    • If it’s not linked, tap on it and choose Google Keep as the default provider.

    • If it’s linked, you may want to try unlinking and then re-linking it.

2. Check Device Compatibility & Software Version

Ensure that the device is up-to-date.

  • Ensure the Device Has the Latest OS Update:

3. Check Google Assistant Settings

Google Keep needs to be enabled as the default notes and list provider via Google Assistant settings. Here’s how to do it:

  • Open the Google Assistant settings:

    • On your phone, open the Google Assistant app or press and hold the home button to launch Assistant.

    • Tap on your profile picture in the top right corner.

    • Go to Assistant settings.

    • Scroll down and tap Notes and Lists under the Services section.

    • Ensure Google Keep is set as the default.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenny
