Cannot remove devices from Home App

Cannot believe I can find so many people who have issues removing devices from the home app, its seems pretty silly to make it so hard to remove something.  I have a handful of C by GE bulbs I added to my google home through the google home app (always had issues connecting them to the Cync app and then connecting that app to my google home).  Now I want to remove the C by GE bulbs (they have never worked well with google home) and there is no "remove device" option anywhere.  It seems my only option is to completely delete my home and add everything to a new home, which is a stupid pain in the ass, when all that's needed is a "remove device" feature that actually works.  Anyone have an easier way than redoing everything in a new home?

Can you not go to devices, click on the device you want to remove, click the settings cog, and click remove device ?

Not having any of that brand, you may need to unlink the device , same process, but hit unlink

Does not have a remove device option or an unlink Cync (lights were never connected through Cync)

Whereas the lights added through Kasa, at least have an unlink option as seen below:

Also, one of my cameras, easily has a remove device button:

Yeah it's the seamless ones...ugh they are the worst.  For all the advances in smart home stuff sometimes just using the app (cync in this case ) is best as it provides an easier way to remove devices in the future.   Honestly, I wish I could help here.   The only suggestion I have seen from Google is to delete the home and start over.  I can escalate this to Google for you if you want ?

Same issue with the same bulbs for me. There's no way to remove them. I assigned them to a new "room" called "Not In Use" but I'd like to remove them altogether. Would be great if this was escalated.

I have escalated this to the Google team, curious to know what the solution is.

Hi TylerCoatings,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry that you're unable to remove the C by Ge bulbs on the Google Home app. I understand how frustrating this can be. I'm here to help.

Before I begin, I need to ask a few questions for further assistance:

  • Do you have any family members on your account?
  • Do you have the same account on both apps?
  • Are the devices appearing assigned to a specific room? or appearing on local devices?

For your concern, please try the below steps:

  • Unlink devices

    1. Make sure your devices are powered on.
    2. Open the Google Home app.
    3. Tap Settings > Works with Google Home.
    4. Under Linked services, tap the devices you want to disconnect, then select Unlink account.
    5. Tap Unlink to confirm your choice.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Kevin

Thanks. Devices are assigned to various rooms. There are two people in the household authorized in the Home app. Will delinking from GE Cync cause the lights to need to be set up again? Because if so, I have just over 20 bulbs and it would probably make sense in this case to factory reset everything and reset up the whole household.

Try: Create a new home in Google home and move the device there, then delete the new home. It worked for me on Tuya.
