Chromecast Gen 2 Not Working Again

I have performed a Factory Reset on the Chromecast device. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled the Home app. The issue remains the same. The Chromecast waiting screen shows up on TV, the Home app says it's offline. When on an app (YouTube for instance), I hit the cast button and the device shows up. But nothing happens on screen and the app keeps trying and trying to connect to no avail.

 

This is getting extremely frustrating. Can you please fix this please? This started when I woke up on Saturday morning and hasn't been resolved.

Try and restart your phone, and set the date back to a few days before it stopped working and could help getting your connection back.
