GE Cync Bulbs broken since beginning of August 2021 (Google Home app last updated Aug 2). About every other day since the bulbs would stop responding, until a Restart of Google Wifi (non-Nest) points.

In desperation I unlinked all bulbs one by one and set up directly in GE Cync app world. Each bulb automatically updated to firmware v3.6. Thinking the firmware update may have fixed things, I laboriously moved them all back to Google Home.

They set up okay but things became worse, bulbs now unresponsive, even After Google Wifi point restarts. Anyone else having this problem? Will try to reach out to GE support as well.

Affected:
GE Cync regular bulbs x 10
GE Cync full color bulb x 1
GE Cync tunable white bulbs x 2
GE Cync tunable floodlight bulb x 1
Google Wifi Point x 2 (Model AC-1394 Software version 13729.57.15)
Google Home bulb setup type: Cync (C by GE) Seamless

Strangely there was a break-in period. After walking away for several hours, then trying to add the lights via Google Home app again, they added okay back into the Google world.

That said there were two more soft white Cync bulbs to transition. Following the same steps as before (below), one bulb was easy. The other however, after step 4 needed to be hard reset - TWICE - before Google Home would add it correctly. The way you know if Google is going to accept the bulb is as Google is trying to add it the bulb will flash. No flash, no go, try hard bulb reset (step 2) again. Hope this helps someone.

  1. Remove light from Google Home app
  2. Reset bulb via the 2 sec off, 8 sec on (repeated 5 times) routine
  3. Added to GE Cync app, firmware auto-updated to v3.6
  4. Removed from GE Cync app
  5. Re-added to Google Home app

Still need a fix for every couple days bulbs stop responding, until a Google Wifi Restart is completed.
