I previously had the google home app connected to my Philips hue Bluetooth lights; up until a week or so ago when the app could no longer communicate with the devices. I removed the lights from the app and when trying to re-add them using the 'New Device' option I receive a 'Something went wrong' error. Retrying yields the same error, I know the light and the app are initially communicating because it blinks when I select the device to setup once the setup initiates the light no longer blinks and I receive the error. I tried uninstalling the app, clearing the storage and the cache but still have had no luck. I seem to have noticed this after the google home's most recent GUI overhaul not sure if it's related at all but once I noticed that the initial device setup I've had for a few years stopped working.
Update: I just tried adding the devices from a another google home app instance and got the same result. I also just tried factory resetting the lights within the Philips hue app and re-adding them the same way and still got the same result. I'm at a loss at this point, seems like the compatibility is just broken now.
Hi Nick_Reip,
Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the delay. Check out this link and see if your other devices are still linked. If so, you can remove it from there. Once done, relink it to the Google Home app.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Juni
No worries, thanks for getting back to me. My hue account was linked, I removed it and tried adding the lights again but still no luck. My hue devices are Bluetooth so to add them to google home I first need to make them discoverable via the hue application then I add them using the new device option. Since my lights are Bluetooth I can't add them into a 'hue home' and thus add them via the 'works with google' option.
Reopening this, since it was closed when my issue was not resolved.

Hi @Nick_Reip
Could you try creating a new home within the Google Home app to see if this resolves things?

Thank you for the suggestion! I am trying this now and will report back shortly on whether it is successful or not

Unfortunately after leaving my home and creating a new one with the same devices, I get the same results when attempting to add the lights. They're detected blink when selected and when going to the setup process it takes a long time before it gives a 'something went wrong' error

Hello everyone,
@RXShorty, thanks for your suggestion.
@Nick_Reip, I'm checking in to see if you've tried creating a new Home structure and if that helped with your concern. I'd be glad to hear from you, so please tell me if you are still having issues.
Best,
Lovely

Hi Nick_Reip,
Please try using another phone or tablet to set up your Philips Hue light bulbs. You may also configure the devices under another account.
Keep me posted.
Cheers,
Lovely

He, thanks for the response and sorry for the delay, I was able to try this with a separate tablet and encountered the same error. Using a separate Google account is not possible for my situation as I have all my services such as YouTube subscriptions through my main Google account. If there are any other suggestions I'd be more than happy to give them a try.
Thanks,
Nick

Hey LovelyM,
Just wanted to follow up and see if you had any additional suggestions, I've still been experiencing the issue and none of the suggested solutions have been able to work for me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Nick

Hi there,
@Nick_Reip, we got your form — thanks for filling it out. Our team will reach out to you via email anytime soon.
@Alfred3, I just wanted to confirm, are your Google Nest Mini, Philips Hue bulb and Google Nest Hub 2nd gen all connected in the same Home structure but different rooms? If yes, since you mentioned that the bulb works fine if it is in the same room as Google Nest Mini, let’s keep it that way. Or, create a new room where you can place the Philips Hue light bulb.
Best,
Alex

Hi Alex_S,
Yes, the devices are all connected in the same Home structure but in different rooms. Unfortunately, I need the bulb in the same room as the Nest Hub 2nd gen, so it is no option for me to interchange the Nest Hub with the Home Mini. If I could be sure that my Nest Hub 2nd is malfunctioning I would probably get me a new one and give it another try. But I still can't get rid of the suspicion that it is related to the Fuchsia update.

I seem to have exactly the same problem. When connect the bulbs to to room with a Google Home Mini it works fine. In a room with a Nest Hub 2nd it fails. So apparently it's the Nest Hub that won't connect. Until a couple of weeks ago it worked fine, even with the Nest Hub. I have a suspicion that this is related to the Fuchsia-update on the Nest Hub?!?

Hey Alfred3,
Thanks for the information. Please let me know if you can control your smart lights using voice commands in the Google Home app. Also, share with me the Firmware version and Fuchsia version of your Google Nest Hub (2nd gen). Here's how: swipe up from the bottom of your display > Choose Settings > Device information > Technical information > Look for Cast firmware and Fuchsia version.
Kind regards,
Lovely

Hi LovelyM,
I can set up the bulb from my smartphone only in a room with a Google Nest mini device. Afterwards it's also possible to control it using voice commands.
But trying to set up exactly the same bulb in a room with a Nest Hub 2nd fails. I can still find the bulb and go through the setup process in the Google Home app on my smartphone, but the final step in the process takes unusually long and finally returns an error message: "Something went wrong".
Interestingly, everything worked fine (even with the Nest Hub 2nd) until a few weeks ago. Problems occured only after I came back from a vacation and I believe that during that time the device was updated to Fuchsia. So, Fuchsia might be the reason for the troubles.
Here's the technical information for the Nest Hub 2nd:
Fuchsia version: 11.20230306.3.112014
Software version: 52.94.19.536300690
Chromcast firmware version: 1.69.362882
Regards, Alfred.

Hi LovelyM,
Any ideas what I could do?

Same problem here. I changed my wireless router and therefore my SSID, now hue won't integrate with Google Home. It works fine through Apple Homekit and through the Hue app. I've tried all the suggestions as well, no dice.
08-22-2023 08:55 PM
Same exact scenario and problem.

I'm having the same issue. Hue lights and bridge were working fine until I had a power outage. Have reset and restarted Hue app, Hue bridge (2nd generation), removed from Google Home app, no luck. Hue can still talk to the lights, but Google Home won't talk to Hue.
08-15-2023 07:04 AM
I am also having the above issue. I have reset everything, tried everything I could find, I finally unlinked my google and hue account and now when attempting to reconnect (from multiple devices) receive a something went wrong error. The lights work fine in the hue app so this seems to be a google connection concern.
09-07-2023 04:27 PM
I got the same issue and slowly begin to think the same. Looked through the whole forum for a solution and this post is the nearest I could find. If it really is a Google connection issue, then I hope they can fix it soon.

Did anyone find a solution? Lights work fine from the Philips Hie app, and up until a couple weeks ago they worked perfectly with Google Home. Now I keep getting the same error when trying to re-add them again in Google Home. It says “Philips Hue linked” and then shows the error “Something went wrong”. I’ve tried logging out, resetting, and all the other suggestions but no luck so far.
Any help is appreciated!
08-28-2023 05:58 AM
No, I just tried mine once a day, everyday and it finally linked correctly.
09-19-2023 03:56 PM
Has anybody actually solved this now? To say Phillips Hue is advertised as the best compatibility with Google Home I am having consistent troubles with it. They constantly disconnect, and upon trying all of the fixes recommended leave me in a worse position because the lights just will not connect to the Google Home app at all. They all work okay through the Hue app, so it's obviously an issue on Google's side. I've loved my Home/Hue combo for years, but it's getting ridiculous having to try and reset everything to get it working every couple of months.

Hello, I am having the exact same problem: Google Nest Hub 2nd gen updated to Fuchsia and a Philips Hue White Ambiance. During the setup process, the bulb blinks when selected but then the process fails with a generic "Something went wrong" message
09-23-2023 03:14 AM
Same issue here.
10-02-2023 04:34 AM
did anyone figure this out?
10-02-2023 07:37 AM
I had to factory reset the Hue hub and start over. Also created a new account using my Google services account.
10-02-2023 08:27 PM
I had the same problem: something went wrong error message after blinking connection. Could not finish set up. After trying bulb in different lamp, I read the post about trying it again every day, I switched my bulb back into the original lamp, tried setup one more time and it went the whole way through setup! Finished. Worked.
My suggestion is to DO SETUP AGAIN & AGAIN UNTIL IT WORKS!!! Also try bulb in a different lamp then go back to original lamp. Good luck!!
Thanks for that post that said to keep on trying!!!

I can tell you what worked for me, what i did was this cleared google play store cache.
10-25-2023 01:57 AM
That didn't help in my case. Thank you for the suggestion though.
10-25-2023 03:26 AM
Unfortunately it did not work for me either.

Hi all,
recently my Google Nest Hub 2 received a software update. Firmware version now is 14.20230831.4.55. Unfortunately, I’m still not able to configure my Philips Hue Bluetooth.
Do we know at least if Google acknowledged this problem?
11-14-2023 01:25 AM
Im also having the same issue, im not sure what people mean when they say move the light to a different room. I have 20+ hue bulbs. This is extremely frustrating! Ive had the issue for a wek now. I reset my hue hub, tried different devices, different accounts. All the same issue
11-15-2023 08:54 AM
Same issue. And I can't submit my issue using that form that LovelyM linked to. I get "Refresh this page and try again. Sorry, there was a problem with the form." (which I did, to no avail).
At any rate, I'm having the same issue. I recently noticed my Philips Hue devices (just bulbs. connected to a bridge) went "offline" in the Google Home app. I waited a few days but it didn't resolve itself. I tried "relink account" but that didn't work.
11-15-2023 06:46 PM
Update: got it working. Not exactly sure what did it. I did try power-cycling the Hue bridge and it seemed to work some time after that (maybe 30-60 mins).
12-08-2023 03:20 AM
Actually we are reporting a different issue here. The broken feature is the Philips Hue seamless setup, which does not require any Hue Bridge. It's a direct Bluetooth connection between the Nest Hub and the bulb.
