Google Home App not booting up

I noticed about a week ago I cannot boot up the google home app. When I click on the app the google screen comes up and then it crashes.  I have deleted and re downloaded the app twice restarted my phone and nothing works. I am running iOS 16 currently.

I am currently having the same issue. Just bought a nest doorbell and downloaded the app for the first time and it's constantly crashing 

I had the older style doorbell camera and it worked in the nest app, and it was SO much better than my newer one on the google home app! I wish they would make it compatible with the nest app!

It's unfortunate that you can't use the Google Home app on your devices. Let's figure out why the Google Home app is having difficulties working as expected.

 

Have you experienced these crashes on any other phone? Please let me know when the crashes started and if you're able to see any error code.

 

In the meantime, I suggest performing a simple restart on your phone and deleting the Google Home app's cache before uninstalling it.

 

If you can provide more information about which phones you have, alongside the app version I'd appreciate it so we can take a closer look at what is causing these crashes.

Hello, 

I have been having issues for almost 3 weeks now. The app won’t even boot up and crashes. I have restarted my phone and deleted the app several times with no luck. 
I am using an iPhone 14 app version 3.22.101

Since you mentioned using iOS devices, I'd like to know which iOS version you're currently running. It's important to ensure your devices are updated to iOS 16.1+. Doing so will guarantee you have available the latest features and by extension optimal app compatibility and performance.

It's frustrating when essential features like Home/Away routines disappear from the Google Home app. I also appreciate all the information you have provided. To effectively troubleshoot this, please provide the following information:

  • What is the make and model of your iOS device or Android device? 
  • What is the iOS version? (If it is an iOS device)
  • What is the mobile app version?
  • What is your service provider?
  • When did you first encounter the issue?
  • Is this the first time you are trying to set up Home/Away routnes? 
  • Are you using Google Home app or Google Nest app?

While I gather more information, you can try the following:

  1. Restart Devices: Power cycle your Google Home devices and router.
  2. Check App Permissions: Ensure the Google Home app has the necessary permissions for location and network access
  3. Re-link Google Account: Unlink and relink your Google account in the Google Home app.
