Google Home Unable to Set Up Bluetooth Hue Light Bulb

I have the Bluetooth Phillips Hue light bulbs and a Google Nest Hub. I’ve reset both the the bulbs and the Nest Hub to factory.

Here’s my problem, I go to setup a New Device in the Google Home app, specifically a Light. The light bulbs do get detected and flash when I select them. I’m setting them up as a Seamless Setup device since these are Bluetooth bulbs and doesn’t need a Phillips Hue Bridge.

When I go to set up the bulbs after the blink test, I assign it to a room, and then name the light, it goes through “Setting up your light….”  for a few mins and fails with the message “Something went wrong Try it again”.

Anyone have any lucky with troubleshooting this issue?

Some additional details:

Google Nest Hub - Firmware: 12.20230611.1.67

Phillips Hue Light Bulbs - Model LWA003

Hi skilxled,

Thanks for posting—let's get this sorted out. How many Philips Hue Bluetooth bulbs do you have in total?

The signal between your Philips Hue Bluetooth bulbs and Google Nest Hub might not be strong enough. To increase the signal strength, move the Philips Hue Bluetooth bulbs and Google Nest Hub closer to each other (just for the initial setup). Your devices should be no more than 15 feet (4.5 meters) apart. Check as well for devices that may cause interference. Move it further away if possible. Let me know if there will be any changes.

Alex

Hi,

Nest Hub is right next to the bulbs and flash when being initially detected but fail when assigned it to a room.

Hi there,

Try creating a new Home > Move your Google Nest Hub > Factory reset and set up your Philips Hue Bluetooth bulb. Keep us posted.

Best,
Alex
