Google Home version 2.56.1.11.
I have a 2 gang light switch set up in Tuya. Up until 7 days ago both Tuya and Google Home recognized the switches as individual devices and I had these devices associated with 2 different rooms in Google Home. However 7 days ago I had a Google Home message that said that it had removed the 2 devices. Now Google Home only recognises the 2 gang light switch as 1 device therefore I can not control 2 different lights.
I have deleted the light switches in both Tuya and Google Home and have re-set them up. Tuya sees them as 2 separate devices however I can not get Google Home to recognise the 2 gang light switch as 2 separate devices. I have also tried setting them up in Smart Life and in Grid Connect both recognise the 2 devices but Google Home only recognises 1 device. Has anyone got any ideas where I should look or why these were removed? Thanks

Any resolutions? I'm still having the problem.

Hey everyone,
We apologize for the delays. Another user in a separate thread has confirmed that they are now able to control their multi-way switches individually. Could you please check if you are still experiencing the same issue and update the thread accordingly?
We appreciate your cooperation.
Cheers,
Muddi

My issue has not been resolved. Still shows as (1) switch.

I'm very disappointed at how Google is treating this problem. Could you please link the mentioned thread so at least we can see what this user did? When I bought all the hardware and speakers I never imagined I was gonna be in this kind of situations.

@Muddi the issue still remains. shocking, i know.

Still not detecting the individual switches on my two-gang switch.
Unlinked Smart Life, cleared cache of Home app and then re-linked Smart Life - no use and colossal waste of time to reassign all the switches to the rooms in Home app all over again.

Muddi - me too - 3 gang Tuya/Smart Life switches still appear as one in Google Home after unliking and relinking.

Today I've opened the Home app and indeed I can control the switches separately. Finally, thank you.
08-06-2023 10:23 AM
Wow, what did you do differently?
08-06-2023 10:40 AM
I'm still having the problem. Did you make any changes?
08-06-2023 01:16 PM
Hi, no changes at all just opened the app after a while and saw the switches for each light of the 3gang switch. My current version of the Home app is 3.3.1.4
08-07-2023 05:31 PM
You noticed any changes in the Home App? I still can’t connect my 2 gang switches.
07-15-2023 09:42 AM
None. Doesn’t seem like google
area that their product is subpar. Guess we will have to find an alternative that cares
about customer concerns.

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the delay. That certainly hasn’t been easy for everyone. Let’s check what’s up. Could you all try to relink Google Home app? Using another phone will also help isolate this.
I look forward to your responses.
Regards,
Juni

Hi Juni as you can see dozens of people have already tried every possible troubleshooting many times - reinstalling, relinking etc. Now we need an actual fix.
07-20-2023 03:05 PM
Juni,
As others have said, we've tried that. There is something wrong at the Google end. I'd like a direct response with a commitment to actually resolving the issue with your code, and a timescale, otherwise I'll be looking to leave Google completely. There are other alternatives and I'm sure others would follow suit.
07-20-2023 07:26 PM
This has been tried and tested over and over. The issue occurred overnight to many many users. We have been waiting months for resolution.
07-21-2023 01:26 AM
Hey Juni, I've reported you for inappropriate content - as you clearly don't read other's posts.
For others reading, Juni's post history suggests they have a pretty stock standard response that resembles "turn it off and on again". Hopeless.

Respecfully…. What is your job as a Community Specialist? At least with the case of Google Home not working with 2 gang switches it doesn’t matter which one of you answer it’s always generic answers abd the typical re-start, uninstall, install, reboot, etc which you already know are not the solution but still no-one is capable of solving this on-going problem.
08-07-2023 05:45 PM
I don't know if you even read the threads here…. All of the “superficial” solutions that you advise don’t work at all and are recorded in parts of the thread. Feel like Google doesn’t care about it. If that is the case let us know so we can migrate to Alexa and get finally get solutions.

Haha. Google support is so comical. It's why so many are switching to Amazon and others. They continue to constantly rinse and repeat and have you do the same things over and over when they know it won't help. They end up passing the problem back on to you. It's some of the worst customer service I've ever seen. And some people who have no clue what they are doing think they give great customer service. Sad.
07-20-2023 07:45 PM
Yeah, he ain't coming back. 6 more months to have another reset, reboot, unlink response from Google. Ill just switch to Alexa.
07-24-2023 11:34 PM
Definitely not fixed. I've reconnected, disconnected and connected again. Switched between Gosund and Tuya and back again. Still Google Home stubbornly refuses to acknowledge that these are 2 gang switches. Alexa gets it, Google not so much.
08-02-2023 07:49 AM
Wow, so I'm guessing we have to wait 2 to 3 more months to hear from Google about this... I really regret spending that much money to have everything from Nest at home.
08-02-2023 07:51 AM
2 or 3 months? lol. its been broken for me for years. my only solution was to buy an alexa device so i can still control it remotely.

Hello, I hope you're doing well. I have a temporary solution. With this temporary solution, it is confirmed that the issue itself is with Google Home. I've done app upgrades and downgrades, but the problem persists. It's something beyond the application layer, which Google engineers should look into instead of blaming the hardware or the user.
The solution is simple: you'll have to use the Samsung SmartThings app. Link this app to Google Home, and in the Samsung SmartThings app, link your app (whether it's SmartLife, etc. – they're all the same in the end, using the same cloud). Once you do this, every time you add 2-way light switches in your app, you need to add them to SmartThings as well. I recommend unlinking your app from Google Home to avoid device duplication and only keep Samsung SmartThings linked. This way, you'll notice that Google Home finally recognizes each double switch with a separate or different button.
For further assistance, feel free to contact me in Spanish at #. (P.S.: I am not part of the Google support team, just another engineer trying to help).

Hmm thanks but didn't work for me - SmartThings only imported the Tap-to-run automations from SmartLife not all the switches.

Debes agregar smartlife de nuevo desde smartthing de Samsung para que te muestre los interruptores 😊

This workaround worked for me. Ideally Google gets their act together so we don't need silly workarounds but I appreciate you sharing this.

This worked for me, for the most part! thanks so much!!!
i was unable to unlink tua/smartlife because not everything in my smartlife was recognized by samsung smartthings. but it still worked fine.
here is the order i did it all:
google home app - moved the problem switch to a room called "zz-smartlife duplicates"(this way it will show up at the very bottom)
smartthings app, add new device, partner devices, connected smartlife.
google app, works with google, add smartthings... at the import screen i moved the items i already had that werent issues to the zz- room, and then i was able to move the dual switch items to the rooms that they were in.
only issue was that smartthings did not view the one item as a 3 speed fan. so it is only on/off, but it is way better than before.
THANKS SO MUCH!!!! for anyone that hasnt tried this, i urge you to do so. google doesnt care about you, so you have to do it yourself.

Thanks for this. I tried using SmartThings in between all the Tuya devices and Google Home, but some were missing. I ended up only using it for the devices that Google Home doesn't see correctly and removing all the rest. So now Google Home connects directly to Tuya for most devices, and connects via SmartThings for the multiway switches.
I don't know if anyone from Google support is still monitoring this thread, but surely after all this time it has been escalated to the developers?? Identifying smart devices correctly really is basic and as has been mentioned over and over, all the other smart home apps are getting it right. It is only Google Home that doesn't. The support and help on these forums is all being provided by customers and the only suggestion I have seen from Google support is the basic "turn it off and on again" comments.

This is a solution that worked for me. IOS 16.6. Google Home 3.4.103.
I discovered this issue when looking in to it for a customer. Like a lot of others a 3 gang switch with 3 individual switches suddenly became a single switch turning all the lights on at once without the option to control each individual switch. Nothing seemed to help resetting, unlinking relinking, deleting apps and reinstalling. Eventually I renamed the switch unit and each individual switch in the Smart Life app with unique names so I could differentiate them, then I did the ‘check for new devices’ in the Google Home app and all of a sudden the 4 different names/switches (which included the unit name) were showing as devices I could add to my Google Home app. I then had to add each switch in 1 at a time to the google home app. They are all now showing as available ‘lights’ in the Google Home app. I hope this helps. Cheers.
08-14-2023 06:25 AM
that has not worked for me on numerous tries... including renaming them uniquely during the process of deleting/resetting/relinking.
08-14-2023 08:51 AM
I did not work for me also but on Tuya, did you try it on Smartlife?
08-14-2023 05:38 PM
Oddly when I did the ‘check for new devices’ in the Google Home app the number of devices (52) didn't change but the 4 'switches' (unit & 3 switches) where there in amongst the "Choose device" list. This was linking the Smart Life account.
08-14-2023 10:01 AM
Thanks but actually my three gang switches do not allow the individual buttons to be renamed on smart life although the two gang switches do.
08-14-2023 05:32 PM
I had to hold down on the button/switch in the app for a few seconds to change the name and repeat for each button/switch (Using the Smart Life app) otherwise there was no other obvious way to edit the names.
08-15-2023 02:32 AM
Renaming them in smartlife didn't help me.
I did notice something no one talked about,
In Smartlife, The icon of a 3 gang switch that Do work and do appear on to Google home is different from the icon of the 3 gang switches that appear as one on Google home. As if it identifies them differently.
They are the same device exactly but has different icons on smartlife.
08-16-2023 02:48 PM
I did notice when adding them that the unit icon was different to the 3 switch icons. The unit icon was the same icon as when the 3 switches disappeared originally and turned in to a single switch/unit.

Hello everyone,
I don't know if it works at your place but at my place it doesn't work anymore
Google recognizes it as a single device
Do you have any ideas to solve the problem?
?
