Google Home not recognising multi-way switches after recent update

Google Home version 2.56.1.11.

I have a 2 gang light switch set up in Tuya.  Up until 7 days ago both Tuya and Google Home  recognized the switches as individual devices and I had these devices associated with 2 different rooms in Google Home. However 7 days ago I had a Google Home message that said that it had removed the 2 devices.  Now Google Home only recognises the 2 gang light switch as 1 device therefore I can not control 2 different lights.

I have deleted the light switches in both Tuya and Google Home and have re-set them up. Tuya sees them as 2 separate devices however I can not get Google Home to recognise the 2 gang light switch as 2 separate devices. I have also tried setting them up in Smart Life and in Grid Connect both recognise the 2 devices but Google Home only recognises 1 device. Has anyone got any ideas where I should look or why these were removed? Thanks

I’ve just changed from Alexa to Google Nest Hub 2 and I’ve the same problem with the Google Home App not recognizing 2 gang switches as 2 individual switches and all I read from Google resources is to talk to the other apps developers or device manufacturers?  The problem is Google Home and you don’t do a thing to explain the situation and/or get it FIXED..

I’ve tried to plug in Alexa and checked there. It’s working fine there as 2 gang but the problem is work Google app only. Please fix it

I have the same problem in 3 gang smartlife app. It worked fine and aweek ago I shows just one main for All. And I can not turn each switch  separately

This is my version. It recognizes only main control and not 3 individual switches.  In the recent home update. Previously it was ok

Hi. It just might be a coincidence, but after deleting cache in Tuya app and linking again my Tuya account with Google Home, my dual gang switch was properly recognized againg as two separate devices. It also happened with Alexa.

I've tried this, but no change.  Hopefully it is good news though that Google has found the problem and is fixing it in the background.

doing the clear cache thing has worked as a first try attempt since the beginning.  it works for a few people, but not everyone.  and many people have reported that it would work and then stop working and they would have to do it again... and eventually doing the clear cache things stops working entirely.

i urge all of you to try the smartthings work around that flrojash posted above.

after 3 years of having no control over my bedroom fan/light combo, i am now able to use it the way i should again.  if you can get the dual switch to import into smartthings as 2 items, it should show as 2 items in google home.  and since google clearly doesnt care about the most basic functionality of their products... it will likely be the only solution.

Today I found a solution after a few days of work.
I deleted all devices from my Tuya account.
After that I downloaded Smart life (it works on the same platform as Tuya), I created a new account on Smart life, I connected my switch to it and I connected it to google.
I was surprised to see 3 different devices (the switch and two others for the controllers)
Try it

Tried this and it didn't work for me.  Also it means that I need to setup all my automations again.  Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately not a definite fix.

thats pretty much the default solution that google gives you.  it works for some folk, but not others.  and it might only work for you for a while till you have to do it again, and then eventually, it might not work.  for now, you are one of the lucky ones.  hope it keeps working for ya.

here's a solution which partially works. i created a new home with a difderent name and suddenly i can see my multiway swtiches once more in the new home which i created. when i went back check my existing home, the multiway switches were available once more. now for the partially working part is that the device type under the multiway switches can no longer be defined/ option  no longer available to define device type and all of the switches under the multiway switch is now only recognised as "device type : light". this kinda sucks as one of them is a switch for my cooking exhaust fan which now recognise as a light outlet as well. had to create a scene in TUYA  and a routine in google home to.control the exhaust fan.  hope this helps those facing this problem.

Mine is not working anymore either. Mine is the Brand Laser. All the smart life and other apps can control it manually as multiple switched. However, in google home, i can only control it as one. What is the fix for this please?

So as someone else suggested using Samsung Smart Things, I tried that method and it worked.

In my case my two gang switch was connected via Smart Life, this showed as two separate switches but in Google only as one

I installed Smart Things, connected that to Smart Life

And then connected Google to to Smart Things and can now see the two gang switch as two separate switches in Google

Yes, I have been meaning to update you all. Having suffered from this problem and been following this thread for well over a year I tried the SmartThings solution over the weekend and was delighted to see that it works. In my case I installed the SmartThings app on my phone, imported my SmartLife devices into SmartThings (it's an option within the app) and then linked SmartThings to Google Home (within Google Home app by adding a device and then going to the link selection menu). Did that and chose which devices I wanted to bring into Google Home from SmartThings and BAM  all there I was able to import the whole 2 gang switch but also each individual gang.

So all fixed finally as far as I am concerned

I tried this too but unfortunately Smartthings wouldn't even pick up the devices from smart life.

Sorry to hear that. When I did it, I had to change all my passwords etc as I had long forgotten them all. It did work for me  however...

Can you explain that further? I don’t see that option within the SmartThings app. Where is it?

It's a similar approach to how the Google Home app works.

  1. Basically click on the "+" sign to in SmartThings (top right hand corner of home page for me)
  2. then from the drop down menu that appears select "Add device".
  3. That takes you to a new screen. From here part way down the screen click on "Add" within the "Partner devices" section. That takes you to a whole list of automation apps. From there scroll down and select "Smart Life".
  4. Select connect and go through the security protocols for linking your Smart Life account.
  5. From there I think you select the devices within Smart Lift that you want to add....was quite intuitive by that stage.
