Google home & assistant will not connect to Dish hopper 3

I just upgraded to the Dish Network Hopper 3 which has the Google assistant built into it.

I'm supposed to be able to link the assistant to my Hopper 3 so I can use the assistant on my phone to change the channel, fast-forward, rewind, etc, as well as use the dish remote that comes with my hopper 3 to add things to my shopping list, or turn lights on and off among other things.

I had it paired to my Hopper 2 device just fine and could do all of that. But upon trying to connect all of it with the Hopper 3 Google home keeps saying either it can't connect to the Hopper 3, and only gives me the option to try again over, and over, and over, or it just flat ways the Hopper 3 is offline even though it's not offline.

I can't find anything online other than loads of other people complaining about the same issue as far back as when the hopper 3 first came out, all the way up until now where "Dish" has even been removed from the list of selectable services in Google home that work with the home & assistant apps.

No longer available for Google Home.  Here's Google's reply when I asked about Dish.

Hey *****, thanks for reaching out. We're sad to say, but Dish Network is no longer available in our list of automation partners for Google Home. We understand how this can be inconvenient, but we’ll take this experience as feedback. You can also reach out to your device manufacturer (https://goo.gle/3NYOlAp) to check for alternatives.

Then why does dish still sell remotes with the Google assistant colored icon on it, and why does the Hopper still have the Google assistant built into it, not to mention that the Joey 4 is an android TV device if it's no longer an automation partner of yours?
