Google time relative to sunrise/sunset it wrong

Ive been using Google home display for more that 5 years now ang generally its ok.

But recently using automation on the Christmas light relative to sunrise/sunset. I set my lights to turn OFF 30 mins after sunrise, but it turned off 1 full hour in advance. The Google Home Display is showing the correct time and my phone is S25 and is showing the correct time, but it is not correct in turning on/off my plug-in devices (Tapo P110)

Is the fault on Google Home Display? Google app? on Samsung S25 mobile? on Tapo P110 plug?

Hi chardc

Thank you for posting in our community.

I understand that you recently set an automation for your Christmas lights to turn off 30 minutes after sunrise, but they are turning off one hour early despite your Google Nest Hub and phone showing the correct time. I appreciate you listing the specific devices involved—the Google Nest Hub, your Samsung Galaxy S25, and the Tapo P110 plugs—as that helps me identify where the communication regarding sunrise/sunset data might be breaking down. I’m happy to look into this for you.

To help me investigate further, please answer the following questions:

  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app? If not, you can check this Google Help Center article to learn more: how to update the Google Home app.
  • What is the specific model of your display? Here is a Google Help Center article that can help you to identify your device: Google Nest and Home device specifications
  • What is the firmware version of your display? You can use this Google Help Center article as a reference: Find your device’s firmware version.
  • Is your smartphone’s operating system up to date?
  • What is the make and model of your lights?
  • Is the lights maker’s app up to date?
  • Are you able to control your lights with the maker’s app?

Please provide the information above so I can proceed with effective troubleshooting steps.

Best regards,

Virna
