Here we go again - Google can't control Vizio Chromecast tv

So now once again you broke the connection between my Google & my Vizio smartcast TV! THIS is how screwed up it is!
Just like everything else that you broke, I have faced this problem for 3 years ! Next it will be the lights again- it happens like this every time!

Google usually is able to control my Vizio smartcast TV. I say "Hey Google turn on my TV" and usually she does it. BUT each time you update the app or Home device she once again says I also need to know which which device please try again and use the devices name. So then I say Hey Google turn on my living room TV, to which she replies sorry I don't know how to help with that!  This usually leads to me having to reset my TV's and then redoing the home app again - redundant! The real funny thing is, when my TV is already on and I say Hey Google turn off everything, she turns off everything including the TV! Or if I say turn everything on she turns everything on including the TV on! So, explain that bs!

ALSO, like I just said about my lights, now she suddenly can't seem to find my GE Cync lights even tho she still controls them. She can control them but can't seem to find them. 

My mini speaker is still all screwed up - every time I ask my Google home device (in the living room) to do something, 1 minute later my bedroom speaker replies either "There was a glitch please try again" OR ""There was a problem" or some other bs. Meanwhile the said function has been completed? This is the SAME problem I have had for 3 years and have reported every freaking month! BUT Google continues to ask me to send in form after form - which I've already done yet 3 years later STILL have the same  problems!
Now, here we go again... EVERYTHING is up to date - in fact the ONLY update was Google, I just checked! I'm SO sick of your bull answers and excuses cuz NOTHING gets fixed! I changed NO SETTINGS!  Went to try to find my firmware and even Googles own directions on how to do that are wrong because you can't access it the way Google says now! And all my devices operate the way they should with their own apps.

These are ongoing problem! I've even spoke on the phone with Google about this before and they even acknowledged this as being a known issue - that was 3 years ago and the same bs keeps happening with every update! But you continue to tell us to troubleshoot? Or fill out this form, send this in, send that in, try this try that... how about YOU fix something for a change! I'm so done with this crap!

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. 


I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. I understand that you have already done a good amount of troubleshooting with your concern. If you don’t mind, could you try to create a new home structure and set up your devices, then observe if it will make a  difference? Check the steps below on how to create a new home.


  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Add .
  3. Tap Create new home.
  4. Assign a home nickname, and enter the home address.
