Home App notifications

For the last few weeks the home app is not giving us push notifications consistently. We are all android users and I'm constantly missing push notifications on all devices. I'm dealing with a cat with IBS issues and we are missing important notifications by the litter box. Unsure if it is an issue with compatibility with One UI 6.0 or something else. Paying for an app that isn't working consistently is upsetting. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.

About a week ago I stopped getting notifications to my iOS devices in my household, all my setting in my account are to allow push notifications and they are the same as to when I was receiving notifications. But now I get nothing at all even if the doorbell is pushed, I have reset the doorbell nothing has worked so far. I go into activity on google home and there is events there but never any notifications to my devices.

Hello folks,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We understand your situation and we wanted to help you with this. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, do you have home members that are having the same issue? Were there any recent changes on your router settings? Make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi connection between your iOS devices and your Nest Doorbell.

Give these steps a try:

For Android users, go to System settings Sounds and notification App notifications Nest or Google Home and follow these configurations:

  • Block all is disabled.
  • Allow peeking is enabled.

For iOS users, go to Settings Notifications Nest or Google Home and follow these configurations:

  • Allow notifications is enabled.
  • Disable any or all notification options.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Emerson

I am having the same problem on iOS. I have 3 Google Nest indoor cameras and 1 older Nest Cam. I am receiving push notifications for the Nest Cam through the Nest App but I am not receiving push notifications through the Google Home app for the 3 Google Nest cameras.

I had already tried changing the notification settings. I will say your Android help suggestions are out of date. Notifications is separate now and not with sounds. There is no peeking setting either. I am on Android 14 with One UI 6.0. Peeking was a term they used years ago I haven't seen in a while.

Uninstalling and reinstalling a third time seems to help more but not always. These missed notifications are sporadic at times and all users in our house on all devices are struggling.

Hey folks,,

@Clgwli, I appreciate your update. You may try the steps below:

  1. Log out of the mobile app on all devices.
  2. Log in to the web app on one device.
  3. Uncheck all notifications.
  4. Log out of the web app.
  5. Open the Nest or Google Home app.
  6. Log back into the Nest Account.
  7. Select all desired notifications.
  8. Go within the camera's line of sight to test the notification.

@colgbo, you may try performing the steps shared above and let us know how it goes.

Best,

Emerson
