Home/Away routine

I have set up Home/Away routines based on phone location sensing. I have provided location permissions to both Home and Nest app. However, the app never changes to "Away" even when I am out of home for hours. it seems it is permanently set to "Home".  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the app, deleted activity history and reset routines, without any success.  I tried to get help from a Nest rep, but she was unable to fix it. 

Any help?

Hi abskumar,

 

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made?

 

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first: 

 

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

 

Also, to further isolate, what is the case ID from the interaction you had with Google support? Let me review it to know what steps to take next.

Hi Dan,

I am not using the nest speaker to control my routines, only the phone location.

I do not remember the case id of the interaction with Google support. But it was my last interaction.

After I posted this question I have noticed that the routine works sometime and it does not work sometimes. I have not done any further trouble shooting or changed any setting.
