How do I turn off the new Home Brief that was just added a couple days ago? I don't find it useful at all, and on top of that, when I tap on the notification it just opens my Home app to the Favorites screen...it doesnt take me to the full brief. This seems to be a bug, happening every time on my Samsung Galaxy S24 (my partner's iPhone 17 opens the full brief when he taps on it though). But that bug aside, I'd rather just turn it off. I have been looking everywhere in the Home app but can't find a setting to turn this off. I know it's only once a day but it's annoying because I keep thinking it's a camera or doorbell notification, and getting this at 830pm freaks me out thinking someone is outside. And the information is not useful. I work from home all day. I don't need a recap of what happened. I've been here, I know what happened.

Hey folks, thanks for the feedback. For context, Home Brief is a capbilitiy of Gemini for Home. This started rolling out in early access last week. You can find more details on what it is here: https://blog.google/products/google-nest/gemini-for-home-launch/
The team and I would love your feedback, as you use it a bit, to know how it could be more useful to you? Also know that tapping the Home Brief should allow you to customize it to make it more relevant to you (ex: if you want the brief to focus more on packages, or something else).
And of course if you want to turn it off you absolutely can. Go to Home Settings > Notifications > General and turn off the toggle for Home Brief.

please let us turn this off, I don't understand what the point of this feature is but I want it to stop.

Also want this off. It is intrusive, incredibly inaccurate, useless, and a waste of energy resources.

Seriously! Who thought this was a good idea?! I not only want to meet them but the person who decided there would be no obvious way to turn it off, so I can slap them silly! It's driving me nuts, every night I think someone is outside on camera but nope it's the stupid summary telling me people walked around the kitchen all day. No **bleep**, it was me, I've been home all day!

Best thing you can do now is tweet at product lead @AnishKattukaran and tell him this feature is not useful and at least let us toggle it off.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for reaching out to the Google Nest Community. I understand you're concerned about the new Home Brief notification and are looking for instructions on how to disable this feature. I'm glad to help you get this resolved.
The Home Brief is a convenient, daily overview of what occurs at home. To stop it, you must disable the Gemini for Home camera features. This can be done by turning the features off completely or by disabling them for a specific camera.
Please check this article and follow the steps to turn off Home Brief: Learn about Gemini for Home camera features.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to post.
Regards,
Gabriela

Thanks, and I hope you realize that this is very dumb. We shouldn't have to give up every single Gemini and AI functionality of the system...features that I am paying for with the Premium subscription, in order to stop one silly useless notification. Just let us turn off the Home Brief. It's not that difficult.

To manage notifications for Home Brief:
1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial.
3. Tap Home settings and then Notifications and then General.
4. Turn Home Brief notifications on or off.

There is no Home Brief setting anywhere in the notifications settings in my app. I just spent 40 minutes troubleshooting this with a Google support rep and sharing screenshots. They even had me uninstall the Home app and there is still no Home Brief setting anywhere, which they eventually acknowledged. They ultimately said they only way to stop those stilly useless briefings is to completely turn off ALL Gemini/AI settings AND leave the Public Preview in order to stop the Home Brief....which, as I said before, is a very dumb nuclear option that should not be necessary.... especially when I'm paying for the Premium plan.

I don't find Home Brief useful at all. I work from home. I'm home all day. I have all my cameras set up the way I like them and I'm appropriately notified of any event based on what I want to know (e.g. Motion at the doorbell). I don't want or need a summary of everything the cameras saw. This is not helpful for my use case. I simply do not want or need a summary of everything that happened. I am already notified by my devices, in real time, of things that I care about, and a summary of those same things (plus other random stuff like who made breakfast or went to the fridge) is never going to be useful.
Also, you should know that until this most recent version of the Home app that I just got today, there has been no setting in my Google Home app for Home Brief or any toggle to turn it off. I've been looking in the exact spot you mentioned for days and there was nothing about Home Brief until I got the latest version with the new UI and features (the version with the new toolbar at the top)...for me that's 4.0.53.2. Support has been mentioning this setting for days and I've not had it, so please note that not everyone may have this setting unless they have the very newest version of the app. But I'm happy to report that I do now see that setting and I've turned off Home Brief, so hopefully that's the end of this issue.
