My devices are online. The thermostats itself says it is online. The NestApp (iPhone or web) says its offline but also says the info is "about 2 hrs old". How do I force the app to update the status?

I still do not know what triggers these things, but now the app has update the status and correctly shows the thermostat as connected.

Glad to hear that everything is up and running with your devices and Nest app. There might be just a glitch on the connection when it happened. If it happens again, you can force close the app from your phone. Reinstalling your apps can also help.

Force quitting did not help in this case and I don't see how reinstalling would either (though I did not try that). Yes its a "glitch", that doesn't really explain anything or help. So the bottom line is that you don't know and there is no solution. ok, you may lock the thread.
