Is it possible to add multiple rooms to "parent" rooms?

Is it possible to add rooms to "parent" rooms? Such as Bedrooms 1 & 2 belong to "Second Floor", and Second Floor belongs to "House", along with "First floor" which contains, patio, porch, garage, kitchen, living room, basement and so on.

This feels like it should be such a simple feature and easy to set up, yet I can't find any documentation that leads me to believe it's possible. Is it possible?

It would be nice to be able to control the house by individual zones, individual rooms, and individual devices, as well as the entire house.

Please tell me this is not another feature that Google just forgot to implement; and that I am just missing on how to do it.

Hi Zenkci,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Could you please list down all the Google Nest speakers as well as the Nest devices set up in your network? If you are planning to partition each of the devices in different home structures, you might want to check on these info:

Share a home and devices in the Google Home app

Important: If you use the Nest app and haven’t migrated to a Google Account, you manage homes and people who share access to your home with the Nest app.

To organize and manage your devices in the Google Home app, you can create a home. Then, you can invite home members who will share control of the home and its devices. For example, you can put your grouped living room speakers, office lights, and thermostat into a home, and invite your family to be members of that home.

Organize your devices

Create and manage a home

Create a home

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the top, tap Add Add.
  3. Tap Create new home.
  4. Follow the steps.

Note: You can have up to 5 homes in your account.

Switch between homes

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home.
  2. At the top, tap the name of the current home.
  3. Select a new home from the drop-down. If the drop-down icon doesn’t appear, it means you only have one home in the Home app.

Set nicknames for devices

You can choose names to call your smart home devices.

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings Settings icon and then Name.
  4. Enter a name and then tap Save.

Note: Nicknames are alternate ways to reference smart devices in the Google Home app. The nicknames you assign to smart devices in the Google Home app are not reflected in the device maker’s app.

Assign devices to a room

To control your devices more easily, assign them to a room in a home. You can create a new home, create a new room, or add your devices to an existing room. You can add each device to one room only.

Note: All members of the home can control all devices in the home.

Add the device to a room in your current home

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Touch and hold the device's tile that you want to add to a room tap Settings Settings icon Room choose a room tap Save.

Change a device’s room

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. At the top right, tap Settings Settings icon Room choose a room tap Next.

Add the device to a new room in your current home

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Touch and hold the device's tile that you want to add to a room tap SettingsSettings icon Room scroll to the bottom and tap Add a custom room enter the room name tap Save.

Add the device to a room in a different home

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. Touch and hold the device's tile that you want to add to a room tap Settings Settings icon Home choose a home tap Next choose a room tap NextNote: This action removes the device from the room in the first home. The device is still linked in the first home, but it should appear under "In your home" or “Local devices” instead of the room name.

Hope this helps.

Princess
