Issue linking ADT Smart Home skill with Google Home app

GHN1013

I’ve had my ADT system linked to Google Home via using “Works with Google” in Google Home App and linking ‘ADT Smart Home’ to Google by logging into ADT and allowing communicate with Google..  I use this to automate my ADT arming routine at night using Google routines.

A week ago, my ADT linked with Google no longer seemed connected.  I’ve tried relinking it using same procedure above, but once I login, I get an authentication error when trying to establish link.   See screenshot.  https://imgur.com/a/sEctT7N

Not sure what else to do at this point. Any help would be appreciated.

FYI.. I also contacted with ADT tech support but they weren’t helpful.

Hello GHN1013,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with re-linking the Google Home and ADT apps. Let’s check it out.

For the Google Home app, are you the one who created the home structure, or were you invited and joined as a family member?

Please try the steps below:

  1. Check for any iOS updates and install them, if available.
  2. Uninstall the Google Home and ADT Pulse apps.
  3. Restart the iOS device.
  4. Reinstall the Google Home and ADT Pulse apps.
  5. If you haven’t done so already, unlink the ADT Smart Home from the Google Home app. Open Google Home > Settings > Google Assistant > Home Control > Select ADT Smart Home > Unlink
  6. Open the ADT Pulse app.
  7. At the top-left corner, tap the menu.
  8. In the Pulse app, tap Settings.
  9. Select Google Nest.
  10. An overview of the linking process will appear. Tap Next.
  11. Sign in with the Google account that you want to be associated with your ADT account. This account will also be associated with the home that you want to use in the Google Home app.
  12. If you already have one or more homes in your Google Home app, select the home for which you purchased the subscription. Tap Next.
  13. Allow ADT permission to access your Google Nest devices and services to provide support. Select Next.
  14. Tap Continue to allow ADT to manage your Nest devices and services. Important: If there's an error message displayed on the screen, contact ADT customer support for help.
  15. After you’ve successfully linked your Google account in the ADT app, press the 'Open Google Home app' button:
  16. Re-link the ADT account in the Google Home app.

You can check out this guide for more help on how to set up ADT with Google.

Keep me posted.

Best,

Lance

Hi Lance.  The instructions you provided is linking ADT via the pulse app.  I am on the newer ADT Control app. But I was able to get it resolved with ADT.  Thanks for your help.

Hey GHN1013,

It was my pleasure. I’m sorry for the confusion. I had assumed that you had the Pulse app based on the URL in the image you shared. However, I am glad to hear that this has been resolved.

You may visit the Nest Help Center to explore the features and settings of the Nest cameras and doorbells.

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

Cheers,

Lance

Yes the ADT error message also happens when you try to link the ADT Command Panel (Not Pulse) to your Google Home.  I think the ADT API linked to Google is still called Pulse, even though it works with the newer Command panel.  FYI.
