Linked Apps not Showing In New Household

outerspacezaddy
Community Member

I recently moved and created a new household; the previous house in the app was deleted.  The Home app (under my new household) is showing all the old (linked) devices from the previous home. I do not have the devices it is showing in my app anymore, they stayed with my previous home.

When I go to link an account under the new home, the apps that the devices are associated to are not there. It is acting like they are already linked. The linked accounts tab shows nothing connected.Anyone having issues with this?

Thanks in advance!

Hi outerspacezaddy,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand you’re having trouble with your Google Home app, that all your old devices and apps are still showing up on your new household account. However, you no longer have access to those devices on your old account. I'm happy to help.

To provide you with better assistance. Please answer the following questions:

  • What type of devices are listed in your new account?

  • What apps are still showing in the Google Home app?

  • When did you create the new household?

  • Do you still have access to the previous account?

Please keep me posted on your findings.

Regards,

Byron

Hi outerspacezaddy,

Thank you for your response. I appreciate all the detailed information. Help's here.

Based on your answers, please follow  these recommendations to unlink your services:

  1. Make sure your devices are powered on.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. Tap Settings, and then Works with Google Home.
  4. Under Linked services, tap the devices you want to disconnect, then select Unlink account.
  5. Tap Unlink to confirm your choice.

Important: When you unlink a service through these steps, it removes all devices by that service. If you want to unlink an individual device, remove the device from the device maker’s app then sync your devices with Google Home.

Please let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Byron

I was able to select unlink on the respective apps, however, they do now show up in the list to reconnect/sign in once I've unlinked them.

Hi outerspacezaddy,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Please be sure to add the devices to the Google Home app using your new household account. Also restart the devices and your Google Home app before adding them back following the previous instructions.

Please let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Byron

Sorry for the delay. I have tried all this and nothing works. I am finding that as I add new devices to accounts like Govee (lights), they automatically show in my app.

My problem still exists: linked apps are not showing in settings, and old devices no longer associated to my house or any of the linked apps are still showing in my Google Home app.

Happy to record a screen share of what I am seeing if more helpful.

Hi outerspacezaddy,

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the detailed information and insights you've provided. Let's explore a few more options.

Just to be sure, please answer the following questions:

  • Have you unlinked all devices and apps from both Google Home and the manufacturer's app?
  • Are you using the same new account to sign into both apps?
  • Did you factory reset all of your old manufacturer's devices?
  • Would you be able to send a video or some screenshots of what you're seeing in the Google Home app?

Please keep me posted.

Regards,

Byron
