My Google Home app with my Google Nest Thermostat has "Heat" and "Off" modes only

We got this Thermostat in last Fall.  It worked great till now.  It is 90 C now.  I cannot switch to "Cool" mode.

If I click "mode", "Select a Mode", there are only "Heat" and "Off" available?

There is something I don't know or my model is Heat only version?

Thanks for all your help.

Hello xinhui,

For you to know if your system is only for heating, there are usually only two or three wires in the Nest thermostat base, which are labeled W, C, and R. To see the wiring, just pull off the Nest thermostat display from the wall, and if you happen to see a wire on the Y terminal, it means you have a cooling system, which should allow you to have an option for Cool mode in the Google Home app.

Follow this link to learn how to reinsert the wire on the Y terminal. Once done, you need to factory reset and set up the Nest thermostat on the Google Home app.

Let me know  if you have more questions.

Thanks,
Edmondb
