Philips Hue with 2 bridges in one Hue home

I have 2 Hue bridges in the one physical house. Hue didn't allow 2 Hue bridges under the one Hue account (email) so I had 2 different Hue accounts with different emails. I can't recall how, but I managed to get Google Home to load up both accounts and I had access to all the lights across the 2 Hue hubs.

Hue have since allowed one email Hue account to have access to multiple Hue hubs in the one home. I should've left it alone, but I thought I'd try that set up. When I unlinked Hue, then tried to relink the Hue account, it asked me to select which Hue hub I wanted to link to. I cannot see how to select both hubs. I just want to connect to everything in the one Hue home.

Have I missed something? Or does the Google Home app not handle multiple Hue hubs under the one Hue home?

Hi, @MelbMel!

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble controlling multiple Hue bulbs under the same account and Google Home app. I'm here to help.

To provide you with accurate troubleshooting steps, please provide the following information:

  • Have you already contacted Philips Hue support regarding controlling multiple Hue bulbs under one account?
  • To clarify, are your Hue bulbs currently under different Hue accounts or just one?

If the Hue bulbs are still in different accounts, you should bring them together under one Hue account. If you encounter any inconveniences during this process, please contact Philips Hue support for assistance.

Once all your Hue bulbs are under one account, you can add them to the Google Home app. This article provides instructions: Use smart lights with Google Nest or Home devices. During the setup process, you'll be able to select the Hue bulbs you want to link.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Ana

I previously had Google Home sucessfully linked to 2 Hue accounts with one hub under each account.

I then changed the Hue setup to one Hue account with 2 Hue hubs.

I've figured out my confusion. The first hub, if I didn't select add each light to various rooms, it automatically just added all lights under the first hub. I didn't have to individually put the bulbs in a particular room in the linking process. When I tried to do the second hub the same way, it wiped out the first hub. When I added the lights under the second hub to each room manually in the relink process, the first  hub details remained.

All the lights across both Hue hubs  appear to be correctly loaded in Google Home now.

Hello. I cant understand how you did it.

Relinking, do you mean the reconnect via "works with google"?

I have tried that, and everytime I do it it replaces my devices in google home.

All my 104 devices shiw up under the Hue logo in "works with google", but can only see bridge 1 devices in google home.

Could you explain in more detail, please?

😅

That's good you've got the lights into the Home app somewhere.

I'm using the Home app on an android phone and I'm signed up for the Public Preview (on the main Settings screen).

If you haven't allocated the lights from the second Hue hub to Rooms, you might find them under 'In you home' on the Devices page. Add the light to a room and it should be available.

I hope this helps!

Hey there.
Same problem, but I can't figure out how you managed to get this working.

1) I add all lights/switches/sensors in the Philips hue app across two Hubs under a single Philips Hue account.
2) I "link" Philips hue to Google Home and select Hub 1 radio button. All devices attached to to Hub 1 show up in Google home devices as expected (including Hub 1 device)
3) I then "reconnect" Philips hue in the Google home app and select Hub 2 radio button. Only devices attached to Hub 2 appear in Google Home. Hub 1 is replaced with Hub 2 device and all Hub 1 devices are removed.

Would it be possible to give a step by step process on how you managed to get both the Hubs devices to show in Google Home please?

I let it automatically add the first hub lights, only the first hub lights were in Google Home.

I then relinked the second hub but I manually added each light to its room for the second hub. (When I just let it do it automatically it replaced the first hub lights)
