Speaker group

I have multiple speakers of the same brand (three Sony srs-xb402g) along with a google mini and Lenovo clocks. Until last week, i had all the sony speakers and the mini working as a group without issue. This weekend i can only one of the sony speakers to play at a time. If i try to manually add a second Sony speaker to what's currently playin, i get the "something went wrong" error. I can add other speakers (Lenovo) without issue.

The speaker group was working fine for over a year. Something appears to have changed this past week on the back end which has pooched my ability to play to all my sony speakers at once. Ive removed, re-initialized, and re-added the Sony speakers, but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, John.

Hi veezavee,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? When did your issue begin? Have you tried unlinking your Sony srs-xb402g from your Nest speaker? How about your Lenovo Bluetooth speaker, is it affected?

Let’s try to isolate this further to know exactly which device needs troubleshooting. To set your expectations, we have very limited information and troubleshooting steps when it comes to 3rd party devices, I suggest you also contact them for more steps. In the meantime, let’s see what can be done with your Nest speakers.

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers, Sony and Lenovo devices.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

If the issue persists, unlink everything from its Bluetooth connection and speaker group. Before creating a speaker group, try to play music with only one of your Nest speakers connected to Sony or Lenovo via Bluetooth and tell me how it goes.

Best,

Dan

I did see Dan's post and have not had a chance to try all of the recommendations. However, I did find out the Sony sent out a firmware update the week that I started having these issues. I called Sony and their first tier tech support said that the speakers (SRS-XB402G) were not intended to work in a Google Home speaker group. This is clearly either false since they were working fine in a group for over the last year; or recently implemented limitation through the firmware update. I have to call back to get this issue escalated to the next level of tech support to confirm what exactly were the changes in the firmware.

Thanks,

John.
