TV not switching off via google home

glenrama
Community Member

I just bought a Sony XRA80J and have synced google home.

When I ask the TV to turn off, google assist recognises this but does not turn off the tv.

Further doesn't turn on either, I've also flicked the physical switch on the side of the tv. Not sure why it isn't working. Any help?

I don't own that tv but I did search Sony's website and saw this note :

Linking with Smart Speaker

By linking the TV with your smart speaker supported Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, you can control the TV by voice. In order to use this function, select the TV Control with Smart Speakers app from Your apps, and sign-in to Sony's Cloud Service for Home Entertainment & Sound Products by following the on-screen instructions to complete linking with your smart speaker.

The TV is a Smart TV so I could sync Google Home App with the TV already. So it's recognising voice commands i.e. Put up volume, go to menu etc.

It also recognises the turn off tv command and says "tv is turning off" but doesn't actually execute it

Figured it out, you need to switch to google assistance full service.
