Want to start fresh again

Happybutnomore

I want to start over fresh as my devices no longer seem to do what they once did. I have it connected to Philips Hue to control my lighting which has worked great up until a few months ago. Now every time I voice activate a routine I've set up the response was  "one or more units can not be reachead, you may need to redo the configuration". SUPER annoying so today I decided to unlink the account and try again - no luck. Tried to delete the home and start fresh: no luck as the old settings came straight back. Now I can't even delete the home since the app kind of reboots to the home menu as soon as I click the "remove home" button.  ALSO I can not remove the two nest units I currently have: there is no "remove unit" button when I click the unit as per the generic intructions. It shouldn't be this hard...
I want to start over fresh. As if I had never bought or used Google home EVER and just set it up all over again from scratch. How do I do that?

Hello Happybutnomore,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for this experience.

Since you want to start fresh, you can go ahead and factory reset your Google Nest devices then reconfigure them for the new home you created. For your Philips Hue lights, it'll be best if you remove them from the Google Home and Philips Hue apps, respectively. Set them up again in the Hue app before relinking them again.

Keep me posted.

Lovely

Did the factory reset before I got the response, fixed one issue. I don't understand why simply removing a unit is so difficult of a feature so apply - surely not a technological limitation but an active choice Google has made despite numerous upon numerous requests from users to be able to remove their own units from their own home. WHY? I also don't understand why it can't just frickin tell me where the problem is when I get the response "one or more units can not be reachead, you may need to redo the configuration". Why do I have to scour the internet and all the settings multiple times to get this answer?! I honestly used to think that Google was super intuitive and easy to use but Google home is anything but intuitive. Multiple settings and not all of them are related to the actual assistant but rather some other stuff that I don't even know what it belongs to. Again I say: It should't have to be this hard. Now would kindly like an answer to the two questions I have put forth above.

Hi there,

We hear you — we can understand why you feel that way and sorry for the delay. Check out this link and see if your other devices are still linked. If so, you can remove it from there. Once done, relink it to the Google Home app.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Juni
