Why is Google Home such pure and utter garbage?

Nothing ever works and when it does work it is half baked. None of my routines start on time if it all. I get "sorry I don't understand" when asking this * to do the most simplest of tasks. The home app will show all my devices as disconnected, but they aren't? My Nest Hub will sometimes not even start my alarm. I've been late to work 3 times over this *. Nothing but bugs and empty promises. Is anything ever going to change, or does this * need to go in the garbage? So tired of this half baked trash ecosystem that barely works.

If an alarm is set then the nest Hub should have at least a little Alarm or clock symbol in the lower left of the screen or if the alarm is upcoming the time should be shown as pictured when the display is dimmed.

Maybe performing a Reboot of the Hub through the Home app (if it's visible to you) would help.

None of that works. Been did all that. The platform just sucks.

I wouldn't think any less of you if you chose to use Alexa instead. I use both platforms at the same time as there's advantages and disadvantages with both.

Google has the better app and display, while the Echo speakers (Echo, Dot, etc.) are better than the Nest Minis.

Alexa probably has just got the edge over Google for me right now.

Honestly I just went back to a dumb clock and just using the apps directly to control my many switches, plugs, cameras, etc. The Google Home platform is just a buggy garbage mess and Google seems to not be interested in fixing the many many issues. The Nest Hub got recycled at Best Buy today after my alarm didn't go off for a 4th time and all of the barely working Nest speaker pucks got given away. Only thing I am keeping is the 3rd gen Nest Thermostat since it works decently. I refuse to spend anymore money on this decaying platform

Completely agree! Our home devices constantly answer with "I'm not sure but I found these results on the web"...proceeds to give us the correct answer via a link. Then the google home app has always been pretty awful but whatever update they shot out to it around Christmas this last year (2024) has made it completely unusable.  Our cameras just spin and spin and then give an error message. There are countless threads on this and google doesn't respond on a single one or even address the issues. I'm giving them a few more months to figure their **bleep** out but then we're switching to something more reliable.

My previous post pretty much explains how I feel lol. I went backwards and starting using the direct apps to control my third party things I had tied to Google Home. I went back to a normal dumb clock as the Nest Hub's alarm with randomly not go off some time. Nest Hub got recycled and Nest speakers git given away. Alexa isn't any better though.
