google home app

Had a nest thermostat installed yesterday, and cannot get the device to register with the google home application.

All I get is the error message issue contacting google try later.

This is my first time downloading the home application, created my account fine, and even auto synched with my step-daughters account and her google speaker, I get the same error if I try and delete anything aswell.

Google nest application is working fine, but wanted to share the home with my partner so she can access the heating aswell.

nest pro installed was about as confused as me when it didn't work.

deleted and re-installed app 3 times, removed and re added my account, even tried on my partners iPhone and same error when trying to add the device.

both the nest and home app use the same account, but seem to not want to talk to one another.

@kpovey

I'm confused by your situation.

If you have a Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat, which get installed in the Google Nest app, it should automatically appear in the Google Home app, provided you're logging into both apps with the same Google account and accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure" on the same Wi-Fi network. If you have a Nest Thermostat, it gets installed on the Google Home app and NOT the Google Nest app.

So I don't understand what you mean by "register with the goggle home application".

I also don't know what you mean by "auto synching with your step-daughter's account and her google speaker". Did she invite you to her Google Nest "home/structure" as a household member? I'm guessing she has her own Google account and her own Google Nest "home/structure", and your Nest thermostat wouldn't be in that "home/structure".

The name you assigned to your Google Nest "home/structure" displays near the top of the initial screen in both the the Google Nest app and the Google Home app.

@MplsCustomer  thank you for the reply, so it is the Nest Learning Thermostat, that I have had installed, this was set by the nest pro installer via the nest home application, and then we created the home app afterwards. I did not have either at the time.

The thermostat is controllable by the nest application, but there is nothing what so ever in the home app to say I have the device.

both apps are using the same account, I've taken a screenshot of my home app but unable to add it to the thread,

in terms of the auto synching, no I have not been ivnited to my step-daughters account in anyway, we do share a family google calendar but I am the account owner for that, the reason I mentioned it is because in my home app I can see and controller her speaking which is the only other google smart device in the house. and that is the device linked under the "home" tab on the app yet this is not something I have created

@kpovey

Are you accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure" in both the Google Nest app and the Google Home app. The name you assigned to your Google Nest "home/structure" displays near the top of the initial screen in both the the Google Nest app and the Google Home app.

When you're setting it up, the Google Nest app calls it a "home name"; the Google Home app calls it a "home nickname".
