"Login through Google Home App".... how???

I have had 2 Home Mini's and 5 nests for the last 12 months without a single issue.  They were straightforward to set up and have been fantastic ever since. 

I came home today to find they ALL require me to 'Login through the Google Home App".  Why has this happened but more importantly, I can't find anywhere where i can actually login again. I click on my profile letter in the top right corner of the Home App and it shows me the account I am using.  It does not allow me to click on this or go anywhere from here to 'sign in'.   

When I go into the Home App and click on Settings and Device information, it shows that it is connected to my home wifi.  So my phone and the Home App are using the same wifi.  The google account that it is connected to is not at my home address (it is my work email address, even though it is not a gmail personal address, but my school uses Google Drive and I have a google email). 

I did a hard reset on the home mini and it got me to scan the QR and after a few minutes it said 'CONNECTED' but when i ask it anything, it tells me to ... login through the Home App. 

I would be so grateful for any suggestions. As I said, nothing happened today to cause this.

Hello Kym3, 

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry for this experience.

The Google Home app's recent update might have caused your Google Home and Nest devices to unlink from your Google Account. If you don't see your devices in the app showing an option to Link Account, you may have to factory reset and set them up so they'll be back up and running.
