Hey everyone,

Last year we committed to bringing a desktop experience to our users, and we wanted to share a quick update on that commitment.

This week, we’ll be rolling out a Google Home update on home.google.com that lets you view your Nest camera and doorbell feeds on the web.* You can easily check in on live views in full screen, zoom in to see more details, view camera status, and more all from your web browser. Google Home for web will be available as a preview as we continue to work on improving it and adding more popular camera features.

*Note: If you don’t have access right away, continue to check back and let us know if you still don’t have access next week.

How does Google Home for web work?

  1. Go to home.google.com on your desktop computer.
  2. Sign in with the same Google account you use in the Google Home app.
  3. Immediately view live streams from your cameras.
  4. Toggle between a single camera view and multi-camera view.

What can I live stream?

  • View live streams of all your Nest cameras and doorbells.
  • View the live stream of one camera at a time.
  • View full-screen to see more details of what’s happening.

What can I control?

  • Turn cameras on or off.
  • Wake up battery cameras when they are inactive (Note: They may time out to save battery).
  • View status of cameras: on/off, inactive, and offline.

*What cameras and doorbells are compatible?

  • Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Cam (wired)
  • Nest Cam with floodlight (wired)
  • Nest Doorbell (battery), Nest Doorbell (wired), and Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen)
  • Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor
  • Nest Cam IQ Indoor and Nest Cam IQ Outdoor

We’re eager to hear what you think of Google Home for web as we build it out, so please use the Send Feedback link in the menu at home.google.com to share your thoughts with us. For more info on getting set up, check out our support center.

We hope you enjoy these new updates!

I have an indoor Nest Cam (wired), and these instructions do not work for me.  When I visit home.google.com, it takes me to a welcome page with no link to view my camera's feed.  I'm logged in as the same user that was used to add the camera to my Home app.

@Leticia

Can you please tell us how we'll be able to recognize the updated version of home.google.com? Right now, we get a read-only website with a lot of marketing material and photos.

Hello,  I do not have access. I don’t see this user interface on home.google.com yet.

Please help?

Also, my floodlight cam is very glitchy.

Thanks’

Looking forward to the changes!

Just one Q, is this rolling out worldwide? Already jealous that NA gets the new wired doorbell!

is this rolling out in Australia this week as well?

primea

Next time don't announce it until its fully rolled out. Contradicting statements in post. Who hired this person to communicate??

What's contradicting about rolling out this week. Am I missing something?

Can someone in the know please advise whether this a global roll out i.e including Australia, or is this only in the USA?

I don't want to be constantly refreshing my browser for the next week if it's not coming to Australia just yet.

A simple Yes or No to whether it's global or not would suffice.

Thanks.

Well nobody else will say it, but its not possible to slow rollout a website, its either up or down and nowhere is there a login button or way to use this 'new feature'. google isn't whitelisting people based on country (i've VPN'd from pretty much all to check) and as far as i can see nobody on the internet has seen this out yet. My guess is that someone wrote an article too soon and now some people are confused and others are way too sure of themselves. Its almost Friday in Australia right now and as you can see, no update.

It's completely possible to rollout a website. They simply check if you are using chrome and logged into your Google account. Anyone who is not will get the current welcome screen, those logged in can be rolled out to in groups. @primea

I tried it using both Chrome and Firefox.

Hey again,

I apologize for any frustration that this might be causing. We haven't reached everyone yet, but users in supported regions will continue to receive access over the next few days. I'll post another update in the thread once we've rolled it out to everyone. Until then, continue to check back on the page — and if you still don't have access after next week please reach out.

@gleff to answer your question, the new desktop experience will be available to users with supported devices in Australia.

Thank you,
Kelan

Can we hear from ANYONE that they are one of the chosen few that are actually using it?    And maybe a few comments on how well it works?   Does it work with Gen 1 cameras?   Does it offer the amazing clip-save and export feature like the old way?

gleff

I believe it works with gen 1 cameras if they were migrated to the Google Home app. I also believe the camera functionality will only be basic controls and viewing initially with viewing recorded video coming later. I could be wrong though.

Hi Gleff,  Thanks for the reply.

Uggggg,  I don't mean to be critical but we have been waiting WELL over a yearner webs viewing.  It appears that Goggle is really dragging their feet on this like it isn't important or isn't a priority.   Not only is it painfully slow at coming out, but the idea of "trickle-out features" (over the next 6+ months?) are gonna make it difficult for me to stay with this product line.

I know myself and 100s of other people on this forum a baffled by Google's seemingly endless resources yet this product line gets no attention.

just my 2 cents.

Will we now have the ability to set schedules and notifications for cameras with the online feature or new updated home app?

FraserO

Working for me now - in UK. Can only view the cameras. Can't change any options other than viewing and zooming.

Hello,

Nothing for me in France for the moment, I can't wait 😄

I've got the new app but, as most comments have pointed out, the web interface is not yet accessible.  a couple of comments about the app:

1. On the cameras you cannot scroll through the video like you can with Nest which makes it difficult to see a specific event quickly.  All you get are thumbnails which you must select to view.

2. Nest Protects are not available at all.

For those of you for whom home.google.com is working, what do you see when you visit the site?  In Minnesota, USA, we still see just this marketing page (as of Sunday evening, Oct. 30 at 8:20 am), with no option to sign in or otherwise access our Google Nest devices:

The "Login" to view Nest Cam with Floodlight with a browser has NOT been working, is not available to many, (no login) home.google.com does not have a login - Where/How to view live stream of Nest Cam with Floodlight?

Jagla
Community Member

Having read how to view a live stream of my Nest Cam with Floodlight, having wrestled with an old Nest account login that does NOT send a password reset . . . I wonder, where is the innovation?  Where is the testing and simplicity that was the first Nest product?  To throw out there that live viewing is available for browser when in fact it is not ready for prime time is something of a farce that has me yet again looking at other similar products to see who will lead?  Who will innovate?  Who will do the work on behalf of the customer that pays and invests in the what-was with Nest?   Google you need to really look at this from the customer perspective and make right a kluge of user-interface . . .  when it exists.   Please show us the fix and one that work well.

I am sure google have some sort of roll out map as to what regions/areas will get enabled for this new feature and when.

Can it be shared so we have some idea as to when to expect it ???

Still nothing for me.  Still only getting the landing page and it's Saturday.

Still nothing here in Australia as of midday Saturday,

gleff

Will the Google Home for the Web be available to everyone, or do you have to be somehow opted in to get it?

It's almost 3pm on Saturday here in Australia and I still get the landing page only.  I've heard a couple of people in Australia have supposedly got it, but i'm not seeing it still.  I wish there was a way to force it.  I've been hitting refresh constantly.

Wow, I had no idea this feature wasn't available, I've been using home.nest.com even after migration and it works just fine. Any other OG Nest ppl still able to access it? I have a Nest Cam Indoor, Nest Cam Outdoor, Nest Hello and 5 Nest Protects I'd be so pissed without the web interface what took so long for Google to offer this?

Still no access as of 8:30am Sunday here in Brisbane Australia.  Will this be rolling out all this week as well, or should we already have it now?  I've set my Chrome browser to refresh every two minutes LOL.

You can view the home.google.com website on the web browser built into the hub? Can you also view home.google.com on a desktop or laptop as well? Where are you located?

guys im using home.nest.com and i can see all my Nest Cams Nest Wired doorbell 2 max Hubs

This discussion is about home.google.com and the Google branded devices which will not work with the legacy nest website. When the google site eventually goes live, I believe you can migrate your compatible Nest devices to the Google infrastructure.

Oct 31 / 2022, 9:26 AM EST - Still no access to the new Google Home. I just had my front yard vandalized at night - the camera somehow did not record the event. I need to look through the full history from the last 3 days - which is impossible on the tiny phone screen.

If you can please enable the access for me it would be greatly appreciated. Do you need to google e-mail?
