Hey everyone,

Earlier last week, our newest camera and doorbell went on sale and we’ve seen the insightful feedback and thoughtful questions you’ve shared so far. We appreciate you taking the time to always share your experiences so we can continue improving the products you love. We understand there’s a lot changing (and that change can be frustrating) so we’ll be sharing more about our newest cameras and doorbell and how to get the most help from the Google Home app.

The new Nest camera experience is exclusively available in the Google Home App

The Google Nest Doorbell (battery), Google Nest Cam (battery), Google Nest Cam with floodlight, Google Nest Cam (wired) are exclusive to the Home app (and will not work in the Nest app). We built the Google Home app so these new cameras are optimized for versatility (event based and continuous based recording) and intelligence across the whole home. The Google Home app is also where you control your other compatible smart home devices, including your speakers, smart displays, Wifi, lights, locks, Chromecasts, thermostats, and more. Below you can find some of our new camera features available in the Home app today:

View all of your Nest cameras and doorbell in one place. You can tap on the camera icon in the home view of the Google Home app. Here, you’ll see all existing Nest cameras, including Nest Doorbell (battery), Nest Cam (battery), Nest Cam with floodlight and Google Nest Cam (wired). You can also watch live video in the Home app.

With your new cameras, view your history for a specific camera (Sightline 2.0). The new sightline experience lets you easily scroll through time and review both your event based recording and continuous video recording (only with a wired Nest Cam and Nest Aware subscription) while keeping the full field of view of your camera visible. You can also view recorded clips for any Nest Cam in the full Home History. We’re working on making this available for our previous generation cameras. Learn more about video history in the Home app.

When viewing the camera feed live, you can quickly access additional controls from the ‘More’ tab — like turning your camera on or off, selecting one of your doorbell’s quick responses, setting up quiet time, or contacting emergency services (requires a Nest Aware subscription). Check out these articles for more details: Learn about how to turn camera on/off, learn more about Doorbell chime settings and learn more about Emergency calling.

View the recent priority events that have happened across your cameras - like a package has been delivered or when an unfamiliar face was detected (requires a Nest Aware subscription). Learn about the Home app Feed. rchambers_3-1630623300347.png
Exclusive to the Google Home app, you can use full Home History to quickly understand what happened in the day across all your Nest devices. You can filter events by camera and by what the cameras have detected (person, package, animal etc.) Learn about Home History.

Adjust your camera settings - You can personalize your camera experience with the many camera settings available. You can do things like selecting the types of notifications you want to receive and even change the default settings so you can further optimize battery life, event frequency and more. Check these resources out for more detailed information: Nest camera and doorbell settings and How to use sound detection settings on Nest Cams and Doorbell (video). cropped camera settings 2.png
Get smart notifications right at your fingertips. Be in control of what notifications you or any member in your household  receives in Camera Settings. Your new camera can alert you when a person, animal or vehicle has been detected. In addition, your Nest Doorbell (battery) can alert you when a package has been detected. We know it’s important to receive notifications across all your cameras from one app and we’re working on bringing that functionality to the Google Home app. Learn about smart notifications

**the notifications image previewed here is currently only available on Android and will be coming soon to iOS users

Activity Zones help your cameras focus on the areas you care the most about with tailored alerts. Setting up your Activity Zones is  a good way to optimize the battery life of your Nest Cam (battery) and  Nest Doorbell (battery) by focusing on the key areas of the scene.  Check these resources out for more detailed information: How to set up and use Activity Zones and How to set up Activity Zones on your Nest Cam and Doorbell (video).

Camera Experiences to Look Forward to

There are a few things we’ve been working on (and will continue to) as we know there’s much more you’d like to see and do in the Home app. Our team is actively working on a plan to bring other Nest devices into the Home app and we’ll share more later. Some of our upcoming features are:

  • A new home on the web. This has been an important feature request, so we’re developing a new Google Home on Web for the new Nest cameras and doorbell allowing users to view their cameras on the Web. This will be coming in 2022.
  • Improved Video Seeking. We are continuing to improve sightline 2.0 so we can help you quickly review and discover events your cameras recorded. This will be coming later this year.
  • Holiday Ringtones. Holiday ringtones continue to be one of our most beloved and most requested features and we’re excited to bring them to the Google Home app for Nest Doorbell (battery). This will be coming later this year.

As long time Nest customers, we understand the transition from the Nest app to the Google Home app has been a bit confusing and frustrating, and we’re committed to providing a seamless Home app experience for our customers. These are only some of the things you can currently do in the Home app and what’s to come.

We’ll be listening and we want to ensure you’re having a great experience with your new Nest cameras and doorbells, so we’d love to hear more from you. Feel free to continue sharing your feedback and additional thoughts.

Thanks,

Rachel

I have several cameras around my home. I just received the new double pack with 30' power cables. Initially i was upset i could not see the new cameras on the home.nest.com but reading this post i hear it is coming online soon, great to hear. Second i am confused by how the decided to align the magnetic plug. This is leading me to have to do some creative routing of the cable since it can lead to it being in front of the camera. I like to hide the wires as much as possible and my Outdoor IQ camera nicely tucks this into the mount. My only other gripe is the video quality if you have to zoom in at all. This makes it a hard sell as a security camera and, for me, keeps in the category of 'Fun Toy'. My phone has a 50x zoom and is significantly thinner, put those cameras in them.

@RachelC ...any way to view full 24/7 history on the Home app...?

Can you please develop a way to view multiple cameras at once as we once could with the old Nest app on Android and Apple TV? When we had to migrate from Nest accounts to Google we lost this ability. There are work arounds that make it work but it's not intuitive.

@RachelC thanks for the great update! I’m looking forward to Google Home on the Web and I hope that it brings all the devices from the Home app, not just the cameras.

I’m also encouraged that the team is working on bringing more Nest products to the Home app; I had almost lost hope that my Nest Protect (Gen 2) was ever going to be migrated across. I implore the team to continue work to bring the Protects over to Google Home, or at least over to Google’s Smart Device Management (SDM) API so they can provide data into other smart home platforms such as Home Assistant.

Right now, while I love the Nest Protect, I have reservations recommending it to family and friends as I’m unsure of the product’s future support.

Providing more information on what products will be migrated and the rough timeline will give customers more confidence in the platform, and means they would be more likely to make future Nest purchases.

With all that said, if there is anything you can share now regarding the Nest Protect migration, that would be very much appreciated!

Thanks team and stay safe!

I have to second the Nest Protect request from above (Dee); we have 4 of them and there's no interactions that happen any more.

The nest app can tell you when Pathlight has triggered and gives you information about the Protects, while the Home app does... nothing.

The Protects should be able to trigger the Google speakers as well as each other, too.

Here's hoping for more from Google going forward; us Nest customers are getting left behind.

@RachelC @Thanks for the update. I’m new to google nest with the nest cam battery my first device. I was expecting to stream/watch clips on my Sony Google TV, but since discovered this is linked to using the nest app. Is there any plan on the roadmap to stream from the nest cam to Google TV? Thanks.

Thank you for this. I do wish google does hold true to their word bringing the camera footage to web browser viewing. Also hope that Google shows true 24/7 recording just like how the nest app with the older nest cams are currently (with nest aware plus). Also allow the customer to create and download clips regardless of event time. Sometimes an event happens 10 seconds before the camera picks it up. I would like to be able to choose what time period to make a clip. Thank you.

This is all great on paper but in actuality it’s a complete oversight. Why would Google release new cameras that only work on the Home app but then not allow simple control over legacy devices at launch? Where are the Protects? Guard?

The other problem is the Home app sucks. Nests layout is 100% better for instantly viewing your home. Google Home requires multiple presses to get to where you want to be and your older Nest devices don’t even function properly on the app. Home should have been updated and released side by side with the new Google Nest offerings. For this to had not happened, just shows how much Google isn’t really in tune with their customer base. I got rid of other branded cameras for the new Nest offerings so I could use them all under one roof - but I can’t even do that with Google’s own products. Let’s get it together. Next year is too late.

I have just bought two battery cams, adding them onto an existing Nest (thermostats, cameras, doorbell, speakers) ecosystem and I am really disappointed. Even adjusting the sensitivity to the highest setting can’t make the camera pick up events. Not being able to automate the camera on/off schedule is also frustrating. And the quality of the video is worse than the existing cameras even on “max” - one camera regularly has a snowy image despite it being next to a wifi access point. The speed of access and limitations of the Home app also contributes to the feeling that these products are not yet market ready. Please Google, sort out the software before you release the hardware! 2022 is far too late.

RachelC, thanks for posting but WOW,,,, this response falls WAY short of my expectation.

I can't wait for HOME ON THE WEB until some mystery month in 2022?   This is like buying a car and the company tells you "yea, we know there is no way to turn the heat up or down, but we will be adding that sometime in 2022".  And we all know there is a long list of very helpful things in the NEST app that may very well never get migrated.  And if they do they will not be migrate very well and we will be left with short comings.

I have returned my new Nest Outdoor battery and will buy a used previous gen on Ebay until I can figure out how to migrate to another company's products.

... feeling very let down by Google that has more resources than just about any company on earth.

I share the same frustrations others have expressed in regards to

  • No support for these Nest cameras in the Nest app.
  • Poor Home app functionality and support, including more unnecessary touch/friction points (compared to the Nest app) to access camera feeds/updates.
  • Poor camera activity detection (especially at night), even at high detection settings. I spent 30 minutes working about 12 feet away from the camera at night and it picked up nothing. I really question this camera's ability to reliably pick up suspicious activity from even a medium distance. That's the whole point of a security camera!
  • Poor camera video quality, even at max quality settings. It's this odd, grainy picture that the previous Nest cams certainly didn't have.

Though I had lowered expectations, I've come to find the battery performance to be rather disappointing as well. Battery life went down 10% after only one day. It detected only about only 5 events. By that train of thought, I would need to charge the battery approximately every 10 days. Hoping this is some kind of fluke.

But what really really frustrates me more than anything that I've mentioned up to this point is that I cannot charge the battery while it's mounted. Let's say the camera battery is at 50% and you're able to attach the charging cable to the camera while it's mounted. If you leave the cable plugged in for a day and then unplug it, your battery will still be at 50%. That's because the camera used the cable for power, but didn't use it to charge the camera. If you want it to charge, you have to unnecessarily detach it from the mount. After you finish charging, you have to re-attach it and then open up the aforementioned disappointing Home app experience to view the live feed and re-position the camera to exactly where it was before you took it off the mount. Talk about an abysmal experience.

EDIT: It turns out that the camera does charge while mounted. It took about 3ish hours for the Home app to update the battery level correctly. I don't know if there's a workaround to force this sooner. Overall, it feels like the Home app is just guessing the battery life at this point.

Would the yet-to-be-released solar panels help alleviate some of these frustrations? Maybe, but at this point, this product has failed to live up to reasonable expectations. I am considering returning the product.

With the battery doorbell it would be useful to show live video when the doorbell is rang.  Currently shows just a gray screen on all devices.

It’s ridiculous. 4 cams bought go $700.
battery life - sucks

features - suck

Home app with cams - REALLY SUCKS

the review recorded events - REALLY SUCKS.

Nest app is 100% by far superior than the garbage Google Home app.
the engineers really screwed this up and I feel like I just spent $700 to be a **bleep** beta tester.

Thanks for the let down.
returning the overpriced, 240p battery cams.
Oh and why does the charging cable NOT point to the REAR of the camera? Who is the $5 engineer that designed this POS?

@RachelC  have they planned to compensate consumers for their lack of quality and terrible design??

It is dishonest and fraudulent for Google to label the new Google Nest camera (which we purchased three days ago along with a 10 meter cable to wire it) as a "Nest" camera when it does not work with the Nest app along with all of our other Nest cameras and cannot be accessed online from a computer along with our other Nest cameras on the Home Nest website. Further, unlike our other Nest cameras, we cannot manually edit clips from video history and cannot even gather a video clip from a computer.

If, as you say, you're "committed to providing a seamless Home app experience for our customers," why can't we configure our existing Google Nest cameras and doorbells and view their history from the Google Home app and why can't we access the new Nest camera online from our computer? And why do we have to use two different apps to get notifications from our Google Nest cameras? And why does the new Nest camera not have the Enhance feature present on our existing Nest cameras to set zoom when recording history?  And why can we only get email notifications from our existing Nest cameras and not the new Nest camera? This is NOT "seamless."

Releasing this camera without having this in place and instead promising to add it sometime in the future is like selling a new car and saying "sorry, unlike your current car, reverse gear doesn't work right now, and the windows and air conditioning also don't work right now; we're working on adding those features in the future.  And by the way, the old model is no longer available."

As a long-time Google Nest customer, I am profoundly unhappy with our new Google Nest camera (battery), which we purchased because the previous Google Nest outdoor camera is no longer available.

This new camera is really a "beta" release and Google should be compensating us for testing your as-yet-unfinished product.

Abject disregard for customers and long term members of ecosystem. Just bought battery cam. No clear indication that it doesn’t integrate into the nest app. No indication of strategy to migrate to G Home. No ability to use via browser.  Going back. Bad. Bad. Bad. Negative five stars for google and the employee who came up with strategy of alienating your subscribers and for moving the forum so you see less of the complaints.

Hello MPLScustomer.  You said it!  A lot of people on here agree with you.  I just hope Google is gonna do something quickly and not just put this on the back burner until 2022 like they have indicated.

Love the line “We understand there’s a lot changing (and that change can be frustrating” … that’s right. Make it about the customers not the poor business  strategy. How about this …“We understand there’s a lot changing and  we clearly hear your frustration. We will correct course to make it right by making new nest products work with your existing nest app and products now. It is our long term plan to migrate the whole platform to Google Home providing you all the features you rely on today with new features and capabilities developed with your feedback.”

The Google Home App is missing some key Nest app feature:

-display a 15 forward and backward icon to control were the user wants to start view history video footage.

- display a sideline scroll tool (like the Nest app) that allows quick access to a specific.

Thank you,

Just bought 2 of the new cameras. What a waste of money. Will be going back. I have 6 of the old cameras which have worked seamlessly for a couple years in the nest app. I had no idea the new "nest" cameras wouldnt work in the nest app, if I had known this I wouldn't have brought them. The google home app is a pile of **bleep**.

New cameras keep going to idle mode so you have to turn them on again, cant view 24/7 footage like they claim you can, no quick way of viewing all cameras at once, and the biggest balls up is you cant see the cameras on your PC, you are expected to try look at a small phone screen.

Lease, if anyone id looking at buying these, dont. Get one of the old ones off ebay.

This probably isn't a great forum to vent but i wanted to express that I've been on these boards and in contact with Nest/ google help several times this week and am rather disappointed.  I like many others have many smart items connected through Google home- light bulbs, for locks,  cameras etc many which are google/ nest branding.  Three issues brought me to the forums and help desk and all the were not able to be addressed.  All the speak to the difficulties google is experiencing in the space of smart homes and all the make me question if google is experiencing growing pains in this space or if they are losing their edge.

1) I was excited to purchase a google doorbell battery- my side door fits not have existing wiring for a doorbell so this was a welcome product.  The device worked well initially but did not present video when the doorbell was rang.  I spent over an hour with the help desk to no avail. Frankly the help desk is not well equipped to help- they cannot access your account so they are not able to troubleshoot specifically.  They only take you through very high level trouble shooting that involves running through checklists that are not applicable to the situation. Not enabling your help group to actually help is frustrating to the end user especially when we spend thousands of dollars on products from your company.  This is likely a side effect of a company that is too big to do any one thing well anymore.

2) while being frustrated by troubleshooting, i noticed my original wired nest doorbell had the dreaded peeling plastic issue.  I reached out again to the help desk and took pictures and provided information needed to start a replacement process.  After spending another 45 minutes i was told that i was outside the warranty period.  Think about my frustration at this point- they can't help me get their product to work and they don't make a product that can last more than a year.  It's really unfortunate especially this is a device that guests and family all see the first time they come to visit.  I can already here my inlaws- "better replace that bell,  really looks unsightly,  what else is falling apart here... everything ok at work?...." you would think google would want to wow people and make them want a long lasting quality product.

3) after finally figuring out how to trouble shoot on my own the icing on the cake was not being able to use the nest application with the new Nest branded doorbell. The google home application always seemed so deprecated in using any device- I have about 8 cameras, 7 nest thermostats and a ton of lights and plugs. Being forced to jump between the comfortable nest app- being able to save and share clips,  rewind and quickly review activity, recognizing people and events, and being forced to use a separate, less feature rich offering is insane. I don't understand why google would release such a beta application for one of its flagship home products.  When people share clips from their doorbell you see nest branding....starbucks doesn't run commercials because people share pics of their cups on social media... she thing with clips off doorbells...free advertising,  all flushed with such a useless app.

Apologies for the rant but it's been a long week with a subpar google experience.

Yes, @BryanC , if I get told to wait another 3-5 minutes I will have to scream.

With my order I had used the opportunity to finance using Klarna; this was all approved and was set up, however Google held part of my order (containing the cameras) due to a payment issue. Klarna blamed Google, Google blamed Klarna, it felt like I was getting nowhere - then a Google button that I had previously clicked that said “fix payment method” instructing me to contact the store actually worked properly.

Now, because the cameras arrived over a week after the Nest Hub which was in the first delivery, I am out of time (14 days) to return the Hub (bought for the sole purpose of using with the cameras). It’s just wrong - it’s 6 days over and the full order was delayed for longer - and how was I to know that the cameras were so poor I would have to return them?

The slowness and inflexibility of customer service is not what I would have expected from Google. Will be avoiding this brand in future and looking to retire my Google Nest devices. Not fit for purpose.

When will the older line of Nest IQ Cams be supported in Google Home for Notifications? Currently, Nest notifications do not show video previews on Wear OS. Google Home does not offer notifications for the older cameras.

@RachelC - Can we please get this fixed?? Let us add the cameras to 3rd party app if you can't support it. I really hate the limitations I have on such expensive products!

Can we get a timeline of when Web/PC viewing will be in place?  I am getting over the "news" of new cameras not working with Nest app but really need web viewing on PC.  Help us weather this storm by giving some information and future plans and time frames.  By the way, spent over $2500 in new Google cameras and equipment two weeks ago and installing as I write this.  Trying to hang in there......please help ease the pain.

Thanks, DG-goog

Sadly I lost one of my magnetic mounts for our outdoor nest cams. We were able to get one installed but we are missing one mount. How can I buy a new mount or can I please get a replacement? Why aren’t these sold any where. Very inconvenient. Please help these are far to expensive to sit in my storage.

Google, you guys really need to do a better job if you want to come out with a new product line.

1. The new Google home app sucks.  We as loyal customers loved the Nest app.  It's quick, feature full and responsive.  This new piece of sh@^ is an embarrassment for software engineers.  The fact that some group of computer scientists that this crap app was acceptable for release tells me the quality control needs to seriously be overhauled.  Notice below that Google Home app is constantly dropping the preview and several cameras.  In fact, the two panels on the RHS doesn't even indicate the name of the view that's missing.

2. The ability to quickly scroll quickly through old video is a major blow.  Heck you guys are now at the level of the Ring camera app, which is sh@%.

@RachelC In addition to the technical and quality of life issues already identified in this thread, I really want to also reinforce that I’ve had many of the same poor experiences others have had with the Google Store customer service team.

Whether it’s the rigidity of the 14 day return policy (especially when a single order’s items ship at different times) or simply trying to exchange or return a defective product (which took me over 45 minutes to complete via chat), the Google Store customer service has been slow, too process rigid and inflexible. As someone who is just outfitting a new home with an entire Nest suite of devices, it contributes to a feeling that I’m investing in the wrong ecosystem before I’ve even got everything taken out of the box and installed.

And while my one interaction with the Nest technical support team was more pleasant and generally better, they still weren’t empowered to help result in a satisfactory resolution to my issue.

Google and Nest can win the smart home game with slight quality of life tweaks to products and by embracing the fervor and passion that their customers have for their products - and whether that’s during a customer service inquiry or through technical support or thoughtful evolution of the Google Home app - by ensuring each of these touch points leaves your customers feeling better at the conclusion of the call, chat or experience than at the beginning. And if it can’t be satisfactorily resolved, please don’t make it take forever to come to that conclusion and be clear in the answer.

I do think there has been some valuable and consistent feedback shared in the comments regarding hardware, software and support. I believe faithful customers will judge Nest and Google by how they adopt and then quickly implement requested improvements across the board.

these new cameras are not ready - after one week of attempting to make them work they should be pulled from the market - they don't work with older nest camera and the nest app, they don't detect motion, can not detect my large golden retriever in the yard, don't notify since they don't detect - the google app is useless, missing features - will not work with my older nest cameras.  Goog;e app crashes all the time.

Recommend that google pull them till they have a working solution -

Going to pack up the 4 new cameras and return them before my 14-day return runs out. -  may look for additional older nest cameras, and run ethernet - or look at an alternate company and replace all my nest gear

Picked up a two pack of the battery powered outdoor cams.  So far, I’m very disappointed I can’t add these to the nest app.  And, if I use the google hone app, I can view my other nest cams, but cannot view their history.  Also, my nest smoke detector doesn’t show up on google home.  If the software side of things doesn’t get fixed soon I will consider this complete garbage.  Not sure why google couldn’t have this problem fixed before releasing the cameras.....if they expect us to have to go between two apps I think that’s crazy.

edit:  after reading the other comments above, I’m not going to wait around to see if this gets fixed.....return incoming!

The home app doesn’t let you change wifi unless you reset the new camera by the button in the back. Has the other tech companies snapped up the smart engineers? You need to listen to the customer and things will go smoothly. The home app SUCKS and the nest app returned so we can get the best features until the home app can compete with the nest.

Been using Nest Indoor & Outdoor cams for nearly 2 years now along with the Hub speakers and displays as well and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive, not to say that I didn't experience any issues though.

I've not ever had to contact support for anything as for this is what I do for living & It's unfortunate to read so many negative experiences in that area when I feel they should be providing superb assistance, considering who they are and money spent for these devices.

One of the biggest issues that I ran into was after making a new network for my home without thinking to 1st reset all my devices which ended up being a pain to get everything connected again. Easier way to change the network your devices are connected too would be nice. Even with my camera currently set up, if I want to change the network it makes you have to rescan for outside devices which is annoying especially if you've got your outside devices mounted way up.

I like the idea of everything working through the home app, what would be truly appreciated is if they added Google Home app access to smart TV's for easier viewing/control via your TV. As well as having the ability to launch the camera your viewing directly too your TV or any wireless display for quicker viewing of something.

Again, overall my personal experience has been great and I've enjoyed the rapid development across different home devices I use getting significantly more usage out of them than I initially expected (especially true for the hub max display).

Best of luck to everyone implementing these devices, I love them hope you experience something similar.

Also, using a Pixel improves user experience, I've gotten features I've not ever seen elsewhere or on other phones I've had

I am not interested in your latest products. I just want to be able to control my Nest Thermostat at a distance so I can turn it on with my iPhone and iPad as I have done for the last three years. It is driving me mad. What is the point of an expensive Stat if it does not work?
Is there a nearby store or someone over the phone who can get this working again before Winter arrives? I spent enough on it and it is useless.

Bad guy approaches my yard -- Nest Cam triggers an event. I see him coming. He pauses. Nest Cam event ends. Oop, but here he comes again, smashes a window and climbs inside.

Thank goodness I can send a full clip to the authorities from my Nest Cam. Wait, I can't. I can send them the event clip. But everything after it? Thanks to 10-day 24/7 recording with Nest Aware I can watch the break-in over and over on my phone and cry (for 10 days), but I can't export a clip for the authorities of the action that fell outside of the event. My clip shows someone walking up and pausing. Thank goodness for my $16 monthly plan for just this scenario.

... thank goodness for my *old* cameras and the features there for producing full clips. The new camera that costs just as much and has a reduced feature set? Not helpful.

The decision to force new devices to only use the home app, while the home app remains a clunky and limited mess compared to the nest app itself, was a very poor one. If you are going to force everyone to use your currently inferior app, at least give a non-mobile option. There needs to be a PC/laptop version of Home, as it is nearly unusable in it's current state on a tiny screen. The Nest App is very mobile friendly. Your app is not. I am very disappointed, and would advise everyone to stick to older generation devices. Or go with a different company entirely.

Totally agree with above posts.

I bought a new new Google Nest Battery Camera as 2nd Camera but now cannot connect it with Nest Aware.

It will only connect with Google Home.

The Google Home App is unusable as you can only make clips of events and not 24/7 10 days which is what I signed up for and paid with Nest aware.

Also you cannot use on PC.

What are Google thinking?

Google is suppressing the weaknesses of its new Google Nest Camera Battery on the Google search engine.

Try searching on google.com for: "new google nest camera battery doesn't work with nest app".  Or try: "problems with the new google nest camera".  You get no relevant results.

Then search on bing.com or yahoo.com. You get at least a few relevant results.

Not helpful.

hello everyone,

Can someone tell me how can I share live video to other people (as public link or password protected) in the nest camera(battery). I could not find an option to do in the HOME app.. If it's not available, is this something which we can get in future with a software update?

Good luck. The Home app is terrible for anything related to security.
