App Not Loading From Notifications

Jb34

Am sure this has been answered multiple times…but I have an issue with my Wired Nest Outdoor Doorbell, wherein I receive a notification from Google Home App that the Doorbell has been pressed, if I tap the Notification it takes me straight to the app, tried to load the video, or the preview, but the clip just remains black with a spinning wheel. By which time I’ve gone into the app, the live video finally loads, but the person has left! Doorbell is close to WiFi hub, everything is running the most recent firmware on iPhone 15 Pro. Can anyone suggest a bug fix, or workaround? Thanks in advance.

Hi @Jb34,

Thank you for posting in the community. I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue where your Nest Doorbell (wired) sends notifications, and you can only see a black screen and spinning wheel when you tap the clip in the Google Home app, causing you to miss the person at the door. I appreciate you confirming the doorbell has a strong connection and all devices are on the latest firmware. I'm happy to assist.

To gather the necessary information, please answer the following questions:

  • What model of Nest Doorbell do you have? Check out this link to see: Technical specs for Nest cameras and doorbells.
  • Is the Nest Doorbell connected to a WiFi point or router?
  • Do you have more Nest devices? If so, are they having similar issues?
  • Please share a video of the issue you are having by following these steps to create a Google Drive folder and share your files with us:
    • Create a Folder: On your computer or mobile device, go to drive.google.com and create a new folder. You can name it something simple, like "My Nest Issues" or the name of your device.
    • Add Your Files: Upload the video and photo files into this new folder.
    • Get a Shareable Link:
    • Right-click on the folder you just created.
    • Click Share > Share.
    • Under "General access," change the setting from "Restricted" to "Anyone with the link."
    • Make sure the access level is set to "Viewer" so that we can see the files but not edit them.
    • Click Copy link.
    • Paste the Link: Paste the link into your next reply.
    • Please ensure that no personal or sensitive information is visible in the photos or videos you share.

I'll be waiting for your reply.

Best regards,

Derick.
