Asking again- WHEN can we view camera history from PC?

This is just UNACCEPTABLE.  Nest app worked great- Google took over & forced us to add/view new cameras thru Google home.  We STILL can't create clips.  We STILL can't view camera history from our PC.  You have taken away the capabilities we PAY for!  FIX THIS MESS or give us back the nest app for all our nest & google nest devices!  You are NOT delivering what we pay for.  Give us back nest app capabilities!

Hi Everyone,  Keep in mind this is a user-forum and for the most part Google folks don't read these posts.  If you want to to get the message across to google it is far better to use the FEEDBACK feature in the  Google Home App or if you are using the home.google.com website use the feedback option there (click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner and select FEEDBACK.

I agree with this comment.  For me the worst part is the big SECRET nature of Google towards the customers.   And by that I mean (for example) is viewing events on the new home.google.com something that is coming in the next month?  Or are we looking at December 2023?   Other companies are forth coming with this kind of information I don't understand why Google can't.... at least for the Nest Camera products.

I bought 3 Google Nest battery cameras to supplement my NEST doorbell camera.  Why am I forced to use the Google Home app?  I pay for a NEST subscription, but I can only use that with the doorbell camera?  When will equivalent functionality come to the Google Home app?  Why am I being forced into a subpar app when the original NEST app works just fine?  How about removing that limitation, and then when the Google Home app has at least THE SAME functionality to be forced on us then?

I'm pretty new to Google Nest. Just hooked up my new wired camera and can't believe there's no way to view recorded video through computer. Seems like that should be a pretty basic feature. Has there really been no word on when it will be added? I really dislike having to view recorded video on my tiny phone screen.

I am VERY unhappy with the loss of so many things from when it was just Nest!  Nest was the best thing that ever happened to home cams.  I have a mix now of old Nest Cams and Google Nest cams and I always dread it when I need to interact with the Google Nest cams.   I so disappointed! Google you ruined Nest cams for me.

So let me get this straight... we paid ridiculous amounts of money for these cameras, the cables are sold seperate. and pay for a subscription to record and view video history etc.

But if i get a notification on my Home app and i view the live footage, it stops recording? What the actual F***?!

Like that defeats the whole purpose of a security camera! What a joke!

**Oh Look, google notification**

*Person seen . Zone 1* NEST Camera

>>clicks notification<<

LIVE VIEW

**>> watches some guy break into his house<<**

So then you think well good thing i got the whole thing on camera! better take this to the police.

oh wait... you can't it stops recording if your watch it live.....

WHAT IS THE USE OF THAT

Wow, thanks I did not know it stops recording if you watch live. That's absurd! So far, I have just bought the one camera, but I may have to find new vendor or figure out some other solution.

@zwah

I'm not seeing this happen with our battery camera and my iPhone.

I just tested this with our plugged-in battery camera with our Nest Aware Plus subscription. I walked in front of our camera, got a notification, and then started watching the camera from the Google Home app on my iPhone, and left the viewing on, and then walked back in front of the camera again.

Then I tried to go back and view the history. I got an error saying that the video between first walking in front of the camera and walking in front of the camera was "not available yet". (They showed as two separate "Person" events a couple of minutes apart.) Then I tried checking back a couple of hours later, and the entire video history during the time I was viewing the camera from the Google Home app on my phone was there and was accessible and viewable.  So maybe it's error-prone and not functioning fully.

Try it on battery

@zwah

If we unplug our battery camera, it does not even wake up from "Idle" mode to detect someone walking in front of the battery camera. We have the "battery" camera only because Google Nest quit selling the wired Google Nest Outdoor Camera back in Sept. 2021, but we use it as a wired camera (and yes, we had to pay extra for the cable, and it works only in the Google Home app). Besides, when running on battery power, this camera is not very practical in Minnesota winters (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11830989).

Has anybody considered a class action lawsuit for this?  If we are paying for a service that we are not getting....

Everyone on here should go to retailer sites that sell these cameras and leave bad reviews.  Don't let other shoppers spend their hard earned dollars on a poor system like we did.  I'm heading to amazon, best buy, home depot etc. sites today to do as many reviews as possible.
