In cold climates these nest doorbell cameras and outdoor cameras don't last. I have 2 dead doorbells and 2 dead outdoor Battrey cameras that had the special power cable to keep them charged but after a few weeks of 25 below zero weather this winter they are dead and will not charge. From what I have read the batteries are not easy to replace. Thinking of going to another brand of cameras and doorbells if anyone knows of a good brand that will work outdoor in cold weather for more than a year or 2. I wouldn't even need battery cameras as I leave them plugged in

The Google Nest battery doorbells ALWAYS run on battery power, even when wired, and "At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the doorbell can continue to work, but the battery will drain because it can’t be charged." (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11830989)
However, the battery camera SHOULD work if it is plugged in with the optional power cable and it is initially installed as plugged in, so that Settings | Battery always shows "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol. We've had a battery camera since Sept. 2021, plugged in with the optional power cable and shielded by a camera shade, and it's been live and online ever since, through 4 Minnesota winters. But our temperatures the last several years bottomed out at minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
Our 1st gen wired cameras also continue to work, even though they too have a bottom operating temperature of -4°F (-20°C). I think having them under overhangs or camera shields helps.
