Battery doorbell latch broken

The actually product is working but won't latch to the mount. When I contacted customer support, they said the latch was broken but it was out of warranty (it was 2 years old at that point I believe) and there was nothing they could do about it. So now I just have this device that works but not for the function I bought it for. What am I supposed to do with it? Can I trade it in at least for a discount on a new one? I'm super disappointed. I wish I had never gotten one of these.

The mounting mechanism on the battery doorbell does not seem to be designed to withstand regularly removing the doorbell to charge its battery.

A few customers in this forum have reported applying a very small amount of of WD-40 to their latching mechanism to get their doorbell to latch again.

I’ve had to replace my doorbell twice due to it not latching. It definitely has to be a malfunction with the product.

It seems crazy that this is a known issue but the response is just "oops, you're out of warranty." This is a malfunction, they should be offering to replace it.
