Why is my camera set up as Battery when it is wired into the house? We shouldn’t have to charge it

It depends on what camera you actually have. If you have the older, no-longer-sold Google Nest Outdoor Camera that gets installed in the Google Nest app (we have 3), then the camera does NOT have a battery. However, if you have the newer Google Nest Camera (Battery) that gets installed in the Google Home app and have it plugged in with the optional power cable (5-meter or 10-meter), then it DOES have a battery, but if it is plugged in correctly with the power cable feeding towards the FRONT of the camera, and if the USB plug is firmly seated in the bottom of the camera, and if it is plugged into a continuous power source, then it should run off of household current and the battery should maintain it's charge automatically. We've had a Google Nest Camera (Battery) for almost 21 months, plugged in with the optional power cable. If we go to Settings | Battery, it shows as "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol. Our battery has never needed charging.
