Buyer Beware – Google Nest Cam is a Nightmare

⚠️ Buyer Beware – Google Nest Cam

Just putting this out there for anyone thinking about buying a Google Nest Cam.

I’ve bought 8 of them – and honestly, they’re hands down the worst tech products I’ve ever purchased. Constant connection issues, delayed notifications, unreliable motion detection, and the app is a mess. For a product that’s supposed to provide security, it’s a joke.

Tried returning one – had to wait around all day for a courier to collect it. No proper customer support, no phone number to call, just bots and endless loops. I still have a faulty one sitting here I can’t return.

I’m done. I won’t be buying another Google product again – not after this experience. I’ll be posting one-star reviews on every Nest Cam I’ve bought through JB Hi-Fi to warn others, because no one should waste their money and time like I did.

If you’re reading this and still on the fence – don’t do it. Spend your money elsewhere. These things look good on the shelf but are nothing but trouble once you get them home.

I sadly agree.  I have been using them for 7 years and there are often problems that do not have easy solutions.  I have reported them (as many others on this forum have) and Google does not appear to be fixing the problems in their back end to fix these issues.   Once you are up an running they are great... but if you try and make changes it can all fall apart.

I agree, they also lose connection to the wifi randomly.  Notifications are poor (it tells me that people are outside my zones despite me not selecting this in the settings).  The doorbell camera connection to the phone is very poor. over 30 secs to connect and by that time the person at the door has left.  Now looking at how to replace them

I absolutely agree. The battery doorbell developed a hazy spot in the center in the first month. Wifi connection is a coin toss at best. Forget any battery life if the weather is too hot... or if it freezes... or .. There is no firmware fix I can find. As always, support from Google for ANY of their products is nonexistent.

Nest was an awesome product until Google bought them.
