I ve had 2 Google nest cameras (indoor or outdoor battery powered) for 3 years now. Never had any issues. Live feed is always on. Recording works perfectly fine. Until this past month. The cameras completely shut down and are not going live or recording. I tried everything you can possibly think of: (hard reset, reinstall, wifi restart, new router, new power cables …) just yesterday I did a reset, installed them, they worked fine. This morning, they’re out. Every time I get them up and running , the next day , they re down.
what is the problem? Is it time to replace them?

Hi folks,
Thank you for posting in the community. I’m sorry to hear that your Nest Cameras are repeatedly shutting down after years of service. I understand how frustrating it is to perform a full setup only to have the devices go offline again the very next morning, especially when you’ve already invested time in troubleshooting with new cables and routers. I appreciate you confirming that you’ve already tried a hard reset, a Wi-Fi restart, and even new power cables. I'm happy to assist.

Hi there!
Thank you for following up and sharing those pictures. After reviewing the images, it is clear that the power wire is damaged, which is preventing your Nest Camera from receiving the consistent voltage it needs to operate and charge.
Because the cable is physically compromised, I recommend the following:

I've nearly the same problem since middle of march. It takes long time to see the live-pictures and it is not possible to see the whole recorded videos. Always the info "Videoverlauf wird geladen. Das kann einige Zeit dauern. Schau später noch einmal vorbei." Some video which have a period of e.g. 1 min. are recorded within 3 or 4 seconds.
Google support via email is very bad: always Liza (Bot??) with standardized reponses.

"Never had any issues. Live feed is always on. Recording works perfectly fine. Until this past month" - Just came here now because the same happened to me. One died a few months ago and my one that is still good, just stopped doing live feed. Everything else works. I have tried everything. Next indoor wired 1st gen. Had since 2020 with no issues. I feel something else is going on.

Thank you for following up! Answering your questions:
1. plugged into power all the time
2. No light when camera is off
3. Error message: “device offline because of an empty battery”
4. haven’t checked for warmth honestly.
5. not to my knowledge.
I hope this helps

Hi there!
Thank you for following up with those details and also confirming that your Nest Cameras are reporting an empty battery despite being plugged in. When a Nest Camera is plugged in but reports a low battery, it often indicates that the camera isn't receiving enough voltage to keep the battery charged while in use. To help us isolate whether this is a cable seating issue or a hardware fault, please provide the following:

Yea I see, but do you think I should also get a new camera? If you notice the point of contact with that specific tip shows a little hole in the camera . Even if I get a new cable, will the camera still work? Or is the camera compromised as well?

Hi there!
Thank you for your reply. Since you noticed a small hole on the camera’s contact pins, replacing the entire device is the most reliable option. A damaged contact point often prevents even a brand-new cable from making a secure electrical connection, which could lead to continued power failures or further hardware damage.
Choosing to replace the unit now helps you avoid unnecessary spending on accessories that may not resolve the issue. Additionally, a new camera will include a fresh power cable, ensuring the entire setup meets safety and performance standards.
Please keep me posted if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
Derick.

What about the delay to go to LIVE view? Other good cameras as well as the door nest show a delay when I open the app, it displays the view from when I last opened the app, takes a few seconds and then switches to LIVE.
