Camera with floodlight does not stay charged

I purchased two google floodlight cameras and have had to replace both because they will not stay charged even though they are hard wired and have plenty of power. The return process for replacing them has been awful and support is not helpful. They always claim that they are going to call me back within 48 hours after they receive more information but they never do. Google puts a hold on your credit card for the cost of the device when they send a new one and will remove it after they receive the defective device but they did not remove it and charged me $300 for one of the replacements. I have now had several conversations with “support” but have not been given a refund so including the original cost of the device I have paid $600 for one floodlight that does not work. Do not buy any Google nest products. The company is not interested in providing support for the defective products and will even charge you for them. Support is just a call center operator that has zero knowledge of Google products. It’s a scam.

That's not right.  The battery on a floodlight camera should never require charging unless you have it on a circuit that has a switch and the switch is NOT always on. We have the battery camera (which is the same camera without the floodlight), plugged in since Sept. 2021, and it has never required charging, and has been "Live" ever since.

Under Settings | Battery, it should always say "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol.

I hope Google Nest Support intervenes on this thread and provides you with a remedy that makes you whole again.

Correct. The camera should not require charging. However, these cameras that I have purchased don’t hold power.
The cameras are hard wired as I mentioned above. I had a licensed electrician install them and they cannot figure it out either. The home app does show the infinity symbol until it dies, when I receive a message that the camera is not receiving enough power. We have tested the power source (a circuit with a breaker) when this happens and it does indeed have power. So it’s not the power source. Given that this happened with two floodlight cameras, I conclude that it is the cameras. I also purchased a doorbell at the same time that is on the same circuit and have not had any problems with it. The cameras, google support and the return process have been awful to us.

I have had the same problem. Hard wired in, continuous power, no switch. When I first bought it, had to take down and charge inside, which isn't great with line of camera. I also have a stand alone battery version. They don't start charging until plugged in for 24 hours. But I will say, I haven't had to take down my hard wired one in quite awhile. It stays charged after taking it down twice to charge inside, haven't had to do it since. About 3-4 years old now

Thanks for the information. I hope that my experience is the same as yours this time around. I kept taking the old ones down to charge them ( 4-5 times) until I had enough and asked for a replacement.

Update: Google has refunded me the $300 charge for the replacement camera and floodlight
