Cameras in away mode record pets but not the pet sitter

I have cameras set to record when in away mode. I can see my pets and get motion alerts except when people who have access are in the house. I have nest doorbell but not using for home / away. Nest thermostat is only using home / away for eco temps.  The only thing I have on presence sensing is my wife’s and my phones.  What am I doing wrong?

A few questions: what type of Nest cameras do you have? What is the color of the status light? Do you have an iOS or Android device? Does the issue occur on multiple mobile devices or cameras? Also, are you using the Google Home or the Nest app?

Check the event settings for the affected Nest devices. You can follow this handy guide: Nest camera or doorbell settings.
