Can't add doorbell

Schrk

I keep trying to add the doorbell to my home app. Every time the app searches for the device it finds a nest wifi point, which isn't mine, and gets caught up on that. I tell it to add a different device and it searches and just comes back to the nest wifi point. I restarted the doorbell and it found it and again starts the process and then bumps back to this wifi point. Please help.

I've scanned the QR code so many times.

Hi @Schrk,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear you cannot add your Nest Doorbell to the Google Home App. Help's here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • What kind of Nest Doorbell do you have?
  • Has the device been paired before?
  • What is the color of the LED status light?
  • How far is the device from the router?
  • Are there any other devices that experience inconvenience with the Wi-Fi?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair?

In the meantime, let's check this tip:

  • LED status light: Check the LED status light of the Doorbell. Oftentimes, this would indicate an inconvenience. To check what these lights look like, refer to Nest doorbell lights and sounds.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany

The device is brand new out of box. No other devices have issues with the wifi. I have tried pairing it while sitting directly next to the router. The light is pulsing blue. I have restarted the router, turned off and started both my phone's wifi and bluetooth. I have restarted my phone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the home app. I have create a new home. Nothing works. It continues to loop through the adding device routine, searching for device, add new device, scan the QR code, searching for device, add new device, scan the QR code. For hours and hours I have done this with no success.

Please try the steps here:

Let me know how it goes.

Melany

I have most definitely factory reset the doorbell a few times during the process. It didn't help.

Hi there!

Thanks for the information.

I'd like to ask a couple of questions:

  • Is your Nest Doorbell 1Gen or 2Gen?
  • Is it wired or battery?

Let's check a few things:

  • To set up your Nest doorbell, use the Nest app for 1st generation devices or the Google Home app for 2nd generation models.
  • Try to set up your Nest Doorbell on another mobile device.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany
