I can't add my new Nest Cam Battery to my Home if it already has a Nest Hello Doorbell. During setup of the Cam, it keeps telling me to move closer to the other Nest device. But no matter what, even if both devices touch, it still says I have to move closer.
Reset everything I could imagine in the chain. Used another device with the Home app to setup the Nest Cam. Called Google, talked about the problem and tried stuff for almost an hour. Nothing works.
Come on, Google. All I want is to tell the Cam what my wifi credentials are. Can't be that hard, could it?

Hi there, simonklees.
I am sorry to hear that you have had a rough time trying to get your new Nest Camera added to your Home! I would love to assist you further, but I have some questions to ask you first.
Please let me know how else I can assist you further with this issue.
Best Regards,
Brad.

Hi Brad,
Indeed, the other one's a Nest Hello doorbell. I've reset every device in the chain. Tried different devices with Google Home to set up. Put the wifi station after resetting next to the doorbell and the new camera next to both. Didn't get an answer to my email of last week, so called Google again. They told me it's a known problem. An update will fix it, but they couldn't tell me when this fix will be there.
They told me a workaround would be to set up a new house and add the camera. Or to remove the Nest Hello, add the camera, then add the Hello again. Both are not optimal, the latter isn't even an option because I don't want to lose my stored faces and videos in my Nest Aware.
I'm quite disappointed at this point, and I'm hoping a fix will be there soon. Actually, I'm quite pissed off.
Thanks for asking though 😊

Hey there again,
So sorry for my late response, I just wanted to make sure that your issue was addressed. Are you still having this issue at this time? I see your frustrations, and again, I am so sorry that this issue hasn't been addressed yet. The workaround would be your only option besides waiting for an update. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Best Regards,
Brad.

Thanks for checking in, Brad. Unfortunately the workaround is no option for me, so I'll wait for the update. If that takes too long I'll have to return the camera, but I'm still hoping an update will come soon. Should be easy fix, just let me add the camera as if I don't have other Nest stuff.
Best, Simon

Hi Simonklees. Just to be clear you can only add the new Nest Cam Battery using the app called "GOOGLE HOME". You can not use the previous app called "NEST".

Thanks, I know. The Nest app redirects you to Google Home.
