Also, this is not documented in the Help topic, but if your camera is a 1st gen indoor camera, you have to "transfer" it from the Google Nest app to the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app.

Maybe this will help: 

Garage door detection is a feature that's currently supported in the US and Canada only. If you have a 1st gen Nest Aware subscription, you need to upgrade to a 2nd gen Nest Aware subscription and have a supported camera model before you can use garage door detection. 

And it ONLY works in the Google Home app (not the Nest app)
