Can't setup my Nest Doorbell

Hi all,

I really hope you can help me.
My Nest Doorbell (battery) won't connect in the setup process.
I've tried almost everything, but after selecting the wifi network and entering the password it keeps saying it can't connect to the network or that the network has no internet.

My phone is right next to the doorbell and router (10cm). The indicator on the doorbell is flashing blue.

Here are the things I've tried:

  • Rebooted phone
  • Toggled air plane mode and bluetooth
  • Disabled mobile data and enabled precise location
  • Use the code on the back instead of the QR code
  • Reset router and doorbell
  • Tried to connect doorbell to two other Android phones
  • Tried to connect to the wifi network at my parents' house
  • Enabled UPnP via the router settings
  • Tried 2.4ghz and 5ghz

Unfortunately nothing worked. The doorbell just won't connect.

I have many other smart devices that do work. For example, I have a Nest Hub (2nd generation) and two Nest Minis that work perfectly. I added these with the same phone that I want to add the doorbell with via the Google Home app.

Router model name: Zyxel T-56

I had the same thing happen when the doorbells were initially released. Months went by and was unable to connect. Eventually swapped the doorbell for a battery camera. Years later it's been an endless nightmare with zero help from google  My advice would be to return the doorbell and buy a brand that actually works. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Google never replied i could never raise a chat and have never been able to reach Google. Unfortunately google have failed miserably with these devices. Doorbells and battery cameras are accordingly now half price online and at every department store in my country.

Thanks for the reply.

That is indeed really bad news. This is not the service that I'm used to from Google. They should fix the issues with their products.

I've sent them an email with the link to this topic to Google support. I should have a reply by now, but nothing yet.

I'll wait for 5 days, if I don't have a reply from Google then I'll have to return the doorbell.
