Can the nest hello (wired) be manually charged ocasionally?

I have a Nest Hello (wired) but no existing doorbell or chime. I know I can set this up using an adaptor but that still requires me to connect to an indoor outlet and run a wire to my doorbell location. I'm wondering if I can avoid this and just charge the doorbell inside occasionally as I see it does have what, to me,  looks like a charging slot.... sorry, not techy at all.

 Help!

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the delay. The Nest Doorbell (wired) does not have an internal battery and therefore can't run if not connected to power. The USB slot in the back is for updates or for temporary power only.

You can check this article on how to Install Nest doorbell with an indoor power adapter if you can't connect it to a transformer.

Steve

My apologies. The Nest Doorbell (wired) does have an internal battery but will not work like the Nest Doorbell (battery).
