Cannot setup Nest Doorbell (battery)

Sumukh
Community Member

I bought a Nest Doorbell this morning. Setup is impossible -using Android 11 on Samsung note 10+ /s20 plus.

I have tried all the  following multiple times to no avail

- restart phone

- reinstall home app (and delete cache /data)

-factory reset bell

-restart router

-setup using my wife's Gmail account (same household)

When connecting to wifi it keeps throwing a "there is no internet connectivity on this network" error.

My phone multiple other devices are working flawlessly on the same ssid.

I even factory reset and setup my nest hub max on the same network using the same home app without issues.

Anyone else face this? Most setup issues threads talk abt ios issues. Not sure if anyone has resolved successfully on Android.

I’m having the same set up issue with one of my 2nd gen nest camera. I think this is very much google software problem. People are on holidays. Nobody is fixing new bugs arrived recently.

agreed.  I got a replacement Nest doorbell (battery) today - same issue persists. Definitely a software bug.

No phone support is available from Australia - and the google chat isn't connecting. Pretty awful experience with the doorbell so far.

I finally got the doorbell working.

Here's what I had to do

 - setup a hotspot using my phone connection

- setup the doorbell using the hotspot - the setup finally proceeded and did a firmware upgrade on the doorbell.

- removed device from my google home app

- factory reset and tried setting up with home wifi

- worked fine.

I think there is some issue connecting through certain DNS servers (even though i use the google DNS on my home network). Once the firmware update was done, it was able to connect.

However, now the issue is that the 30 day history keeps getting wiped from the account. In fact, all history gets wiped out regularly. I am yet to figure out why that is happening.

The overall experience has been pretty bleh with the doorbell, unfortunately.

Hey Sumukh,

I'm glad your doorbell is now properly connected to your Wi-Fi network.

I would like to confirm if you have an active Nest Aware subscription. If so, what type of subscription do you have?

Thanks,

Archie
