Received alert to charge battery but when I try to unhook it with the key, it's wired and I can remove it.

@Chacafair

Which camera do you actually have?

Your post says "Nest Cam Outdoor" and "Google Home app (Android)".

The Google Nest Outdoor Camera (we have 3 of them) is installed in the Google Nest app, is wired, and does not have a battery.

The Google Nest Battery Camera (we have 1 of them) is installed in the Google Home app and can be plugged in with the optional power cable. It can be unplugged, but when plugged in (with the power cable feeding towards the FRONT of the camera) it should run off of household electrical current, with Settings | Battery showing "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol. Ours is over 3 years old, is "Live" at all times, and has never needed charging.

Neither camera has a key to unhook it. Both are connected to their mounting bracket with a magnet, but the Google Nest Battery Camera has an optional security loop (we have one) that is screwed into the bottom of the camera with a flathead screwdriver.

Hi folks!

@MplsCustomer thanks for your assistance and for giving those details about the Nest cameras.

@Chacafair thanks for posting in the community. I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you’ve been experiencing with your Nest camera. I can see that after receiving a message about a low battery, you tried to remove it from its mounting, but there were wires that didn’t allow you to take it off. No worries, help is here.

I need some extra information to better assist you. Here are some questions for you:

  • Is it a Nest camera or a Nest doorbell?
  • What is the temperature in the place where the doorbell is located?
  • Are you able to check if the wiring is in good condition?
  • What other troubleshooting have you taken?

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.
