Chime constantly active

Just installed a 2nd gen nest doorbell and as soon as I connect the doorbell the hammer in the chime box constantly moves and when the doorbell is pressed it might ring and might not. The hammer should not be moving constantly. Has anyone experienced any similar problems? how did you fix it?

One possibility is that your chime puck is wired incorrectly. This Help topic has wiring diagrams:

Another possibility is that your chime puck is defective. Some customers have reported defective chime pucks for the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell:
