Chime not working after installing Nest Doorbell and upgrading transformer to 24 V AC, 10-40 VA

I've installed Nest gen 2 doorbell and upgraded transformer. Video works, doorbell has blue light but now my indoor mechanical chime isn't working.

Do I have to install new mechanical chime to work with new transformer?

Or buy an electronic chime?

I have "Ring indoor chime" active on my Google Home app.

Thank you.

If this is a brand-new install of the 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell, be aware that other customers in this forum have reported defective chime connectors. They seem toy discover the chime connector is defective if they remove the chime connector and discover that their doorbell THEN rings their chime.

You could try contacting Support (see below) to see if they'll replace your chime connector. (Some customers report that Google Nest would only report the entire doorbell package.)

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

Thank you for the comprehensive answer. I was unaware of the reports about defective chime connectors.
